Like how a “government” satellite takes “pictures” that supposedly shows the Apollo landing sites but when I point my telescope at the Moon I can’t see them.

THEY claim there were astronauts in the module because they tracked the radio “broadcasts”. However it would be easy to send the broadcast from Earth using a high gain antenna that no one could track (the radio waves are pointed away from Earth) to have Apollo rebroadcast them towards the Earth. NASA has never proven they didn’t do that.
I can’t believe this thread is now actually moving toward a discussion on whether the Apollo landings were or could have been a hoax :eek:
I seriously hope that you are just pulling our legs here Cad … in your post you use two of the most used conspiracy theorist tactics: ‘just asking questions’ and ‘they never proved that my theory is not true’
Yes they have, by having astronauts take photos and film of each other, both in cislunar space and on the moon, with the Earth visible in shot showing weather patterns that can be matched to the date and time in question. Which would be utterly impossible to fake “on the fly”.
But I am going off topic…
You’re trusting 40+ year old weather reports? Do you know how trivial it would be to make those old records match their photos?

As above. No. Given it is only the Apollo 11 video for which the backup tapes were lost, you have to explain why the other 5 landings - which do have surviving video - are not important.
It is a great shame that the backup tapes were lost, as we can’t get the best quality video of what was one of history’s great moments. We are left with recordings of the live to air stream that people actually watched as the moonwalk happened. But we do have lots of video of significantly superior quality of the other missions.
“Just asking questions” seems to have become something of a mneme around the world that does not usually means what it says. The wholesale destruction and reuse of data and video tape during the 60’s has lost us a huge amount of valuable material. People had simply not developed any sense that what they had was intrinsically of historical value. (After all, it was “like only a few years ago - that isn’t history.”)

In practice SD is partly for fighting ignorance and by declaration explicitly so. And CT people, are by definition ignorant. So yes, they, like all God’s creatures, are worth a conversation by people with different types of “open minds.” As priests, police, judges, and psychiatrists also do regularly, and, although not bound as a profession, most SD posters do also from time to time.
But at some point the “open mind” investigating of a Holocaust denial, 9/11, down to contrails (not someone doing a meta-level sociological or psychological investigation)–even of, say, investigating by deduction in spite of any other cause a technical matter (steel construction, oven operating limits)–as opposed to up-front accusations of "because they [hate us/would lie about this because of their very nature)–all have at their root a moral equivocation which, at some point, leads us to declare: a CT adherent, claiming an “open mind” or not, is morally baseless, as repulsive as any supporter of murder and torture. Evil, in short.
So today, especially, in my opinion, is a day to consider outright contempt, nothing more or nor less, for such debased individuals. Ignorance is the least of their sins.
Well, isn’t the thing with these chemtrail nutters that they DO recognize the existence of contrails, but claim that chemtrails are different? Not that I pay attention much to these folks, but I never got the sense that they’ve never seen contrails before–they’re just claiming some of those contrails are not vapor trails but rather chemical trails.
I’m sure we’re all willing to stipulate that CTers are a big ol’ can of mixed nuts, and their nuttery varies immensely from nut to nut.
If I were a more evil person, and also more clever, I’d think the funnest thing in the world would be trolling CTer fora and provoking flamewars among the various factional brands of nuttery. And it would be so easy, too. They come pre-loaded with ignorance-fueled outrage. Just turn 'em on each other.
Just claim that conspiracy theorists are conspiring with one another (it at least SOME are) to advance false conspiracies over “real” ones and see what happens.
A common meme among chemtrail believers is that modern jet engines cannot create contrails. (Actually, modern engines, being more efficient, are more likely to create contrails…)
Stuff like that apparently happens without our intervention: CT-ers claiming they were led to believe the moon landings were hoaxed (or whatever theory) to keep them from finding out an even bigger secret. As you know, CIA and other super secret government agencies shit their pants because of the CT-ers…

Seeing how only Apollo 11 had to meet Kennedy’s “deadline” of making it to the Moon before the end of the decade, is it mere coincidence that “those” tapes are lost and the ones they had more time to create before the “launch” were better quality? Especially how THEY could have fixed the problems that came up filming the first “landing”?
And then NASA “finds” the footage for the Apollo 18 mission but yet the “public” never sees it until certain truth-seekers make it available.
