Y’all are besmirching a Prince classic!
Fair enuf. However, she choose it.
But I bet Prince was more vain and spent more time dressing than she ever did.
Generally speaking, there were quite a few songs I would have downvoted if Discourse had that option. Funny old world, innit?
If I understand correctly, it was Prince’s idea that she/they record it.
(But yeah, it’s not my favorite Bangles song, though it is “cute” enough.)
It made a butt load of money for everyone involved.
What’s disturbing about that video is that they used a picture of Price wearing the same mascara as Hoffs when she does her signature eye glance.
Vincent?
My brother went to the College of William and Mary. While there, a classmate, who was transferring to another school, had a teeshirt made stating “William and Mary Won’t Do”.
When I hear William and Mary, I always recall a scene from “All in the Family”:
Archie Bunker is applying for a promotion. He is waiting in the reception area with another applicant.
Archie, making small talk: “Did you go to college?”
Other guy: “Yeah, William and Mary”
Archie: “Ahh, two of them, eh?”
Wow, that demo sounds almost exactly like the release by The Bangles.
I’m not a fan of any of it.
Final Poll. What is the best M song? Select up to 3.
- Manic Monday – The Bangles
- Me and Bobby McGee – Janis Joplin
- Message in a Bottle – The Police
- Midnight Train to Georgia – Gladys Knight & the Pips
- Money for Nothing – Dire Straits
- Morning Has Broken – Cat Stevens
- Mr. Tambourine Man – Bob Dylan
- Mrs. Robinson – Simon & Garfunkel
- My Generation – The Who
- My Girl – The Temptations
- The Midnight Special – Creedence Clearwater Revival
The funniest part is that “My Generation” is in the top ten. That’s a little on the nose for a poll whose most recent song is almost forty years old.
We have a demographic.
None of us died before we got old.
mmm
The Hillary Duff cover changes the lyric to “Hope I DON’T die before I get old”
Yeah, I fully expect the final results of these threads to be a list of the same old tired shit we claim to be bored of on the classic rock stations.
Eh, you can be bored with a song and still recognize it as an outstanding tune.
mmm
I know. I’m trying to lean more into my personal favorites now instead of handing out Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Really? Talk about missing the point…
This is the f-f-first f-f-final poll that only chose one.
