…Chicken specifically. I am interested in the similarities (if there are any) and differences between meat (chicken) and bread (whole or white?) I assume there’s lots of carbon, what other elements?
Generally speaking, chicken contains mostly protein, and bread contains mostly carbohydrates. That said, chicken contains some fat and carbohydrates and bread contains some fat and protein. The relative amounts of these other molecules depends too much on the specific cut of chicken or type of bread to make any general statements.
Both foods contain lots of carbon. The major elemental difference between the two would be nitrogen- chicken contains a lot of nitrogen and bread contains little. The reason for this is that carbohydrates are always composed of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen while Proteins are always composed of Carbon, Nitrogen, Hydrogen, and Oxygen. Proteins also may contain Sulfur, while carbohydrates do not.
That’s exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks for being so helpful, Stan Doubt.
