I just broke one, and the clear fluid inside it got freaking everywhere. It’s kind of oily, smells a little like mineral spirits, and seems to evaporate gradually.
I’m assuming it’s got to be fairly harmless, these things must break all the time. Anyone know if I’m right?
Ventilating the area where it spilled will be difficult - it’s pretty cold outside, and I don’t want to turn on a fan, since I presume it must be flammable.
Here says it’s usually water or alcohol. I say clean it up with some rags or something, and then take thoses rags right to an outside trash can. I seriously doubt that due to just evaporation, the ratio of air to fumes will be such that the sparks from a fan will ignite it. As long as no flames or electricity is hitting the puddle directly, I don’t think any fire will result.
Commiserations, friend. If it’s any consolation, there was no permanent damage to the carpet but it did take a number of days before the smell cleared.
