Yup. I don’t think the first season was horrid, but it was annoying, and season 2 is so much better.
Correct and apologies for any confusion caused.
Btw, I just ranked every comedy series I have followed. In order:
the ali g show
arrested development
parks and recreation
modern family
himym
community
flight of the conchords
30 rock
life and times of tim
seinfeld
lucky louie
the office uk
entourage

bored to death
californication

better off ted
frasier
two and a half men
I loved the first season of IASIP. It just seemed more forced to find a role for Danny DeVito and I liked the dynamics of the first season better that way. The latter seasons are great, but not my favorites.
Modern Family is consistently funny and relateable and most of the episode we point out who X is acting like in our family.
IT Crowd is so solid and I can’t wait for the next season to come out.
Currently, 30 Rock.
You listed ali-g first, Respect! And big up yourself.
It means I can trust your list, so I’m going to use it as a guide of what to watch.
I concur with this quite interesting factoid.
If your first paragraph was talking about Community, then I don’t believe you can be more wrong. The show was hilarious in the first season, and was the first sitcom that ever made me laugh throughout. Season 2 was not reinvented: the characters are the same. Unfortunately, the two episodes before the most current one were breaking the formula: the first by pairing actors that did not have chemistry together, the second for completely screwing with all the character traits that had been established so far.
I sincerely hope you are right that the latest episode is actually funny. The premise you offered sounds the same as the last one, as well as the one with Abed finding a girlfriend. Hopefully it will riff off the latter, which was actually funny.
Saying all this, my nomination to this thread is Community. I didn’t realize sitcoms were supposed to be laugh-out-loud funny until I encountered this one.
Season 2 doesn’t exist; this is the first season of Community. And I agree with the first paragraph, which doesn’t mention seasons at all. It simply said that Community started off slowly and picked up steem, which I agree with. If you read the original thread on Community, the dope in general also agrees.
Parks & Rec is the show that got reinvented as funny in the second season.
Some of my favorites have already been mentioned several times (Parks & Rec, HIMYM, Always Sunny) so I’ll just add a couple more that consistantly make me howl with laughter: Curb Your Enthusiasm and Tosh.0.
Tosh.0 might be the funniest show I currently watch.
IT Crowd is AMAZING. It’s one of the things I like about British TV series. Instead of 22 blah episodes you get 6 great ones.
Other favorites, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, and The League.
Lot of good ones already listed, I’ll add Archer.
Archer and Modern Family are my 2 new favorites.
I laughed out loud at Rules of Engagement this week, first time I’ve seen it. One guy to other guy who’s being pissy: “What happened to you? Did they stop making Trojan Juniors?” I’ve been trying to think of a way to work it into a conversation.
Yes, QI. I’m glad I’d never heard of it before, because now I get to enjoy it all for the very first time.
I vote for The Big bang Theory also. I like The Daily Show, but I’m bummed out that they took it off Hulu.
Currently, Community
I’d say that Community is the most consistently funny, but both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are usually okay, punctuated by the occasional amazing bit that’s head and shoulders above anything on any other show.
As others have already mentioned, I would say that Archer hands down is the funniest show on right now. The writting, the performances, the characters, the plots, everything about this show is superlative!
Its the kind of show that if it was canceled and I was a billionaire I would literally buy the FX Network just to keep it going!
Current show would be the Big Bang Theory.
