What shows have actually made you laugh out loud?

Thanks to the wonders of Netflix, my husband and I were thoroughly enjoying some episodes of Strangers With Candy tonight. I’m trying to remember when I’ve laughed so much at a TV show that my stomach hurt and I had tears running down my face.

The only other shows I can think of would be…
Absolutely Fabulous
The Young Ones
The Simpsons

If I were not so deathly tired I could possibly think of more…What about you Dopers?

The Simpsons does, for sure. Futurama, even in reruns. Arrested Development is A#1 right now. I can watch an episode a handful of times and still laugh at some of their jokes.

The ones that come to mind right away are: The Simpsons (mostly the older ones, but once in a while a new one will get a laugh), Arrested Development, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, which is probably the funniest thing on right now.

Whose Line is it Anyway? (Uk and US versions)
MAS*H (with Ferret Face)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Scrubs.

Recently my husband and I have been watching our old tapes of Weird Science and Duckman, two shows that used to be on the USA Network. We laugh so much that we sometimes scare the cats off our bed.

Simpsons

The Young Ones.

Scrubs

Arrested Development

Red Dwarf

French & Saunders

Monty Python

The Office (BBC not NBC)

Andy Richter Controls the Universe

Whose Line… would regularly make me laugh so hard I’d gasp for breath.

Frasier
Cheers
Everybody Loves Raymond
Jay Leno and David Letterman

Frazier

Becker

Whose Line

What Not to Wear

There are so many! But I just wanted to pop in with the first one that came to my mind (and which has already been mentioned)…

The Young Ones

(The series, not the Cliff Richard movie.) The first time I saw Vyvyan lose his head on the train, I laughed and laughed and laughed. Then I rewound (since I had it on VHS bootlegged from MTV) and watched it again!

My laugh out loud shows are:

Scrubs
Family Guy
Dave Chappelle

Will and Grace. And truly, this has nothing to do with the so-very-obvious
gay cliches. It’s about the utter self-involved cluelessness of each of the characters. I suppose mainly it’s Jack (“Show me hateful!”) but they all have these
amusing quirks. I think the show has jumped the shark, but I still watch and laugh.

If I’m watching something by myself, it’s rare that I laugh out loud. It helps if I’m with a live laugh track, so to speak.

That having been said:

Most of the Adult Swim comedy lineup. Particularly Sealab, The Oblongs, Robot Chicken, and sometimes Home Movies.

Family Guy and Futurama have moments that most always make me laugh.

Anime: Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemi, The Ping-Pong Club and Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi.

I used to laugh out loud during the first run of Tim Allen’s Home Improvement show, particularly the *Tool Time * scenes. Sure it was just slapstick humor but it was really excellent slap stick humor.

Arrested Development
Simpsons
South Park
Family Guy
Scrubs
The Office (BBC version)
Seinfeld (before I saw them all dozens of times; now I hate it)

And I’ll admit, Perfect Strangers had its hilarious moments.

“Sex and the City” - when the guy broke up with the girl during sex after getting a phone call from his ex (which he took while having sex). “Your breaking up with me and your still inside of me!” I not only laughed I rolled on the floor!

Arrested Development, Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, The Office, Monty Python, Andy Richtor, and one that hasn’t been mentioned: Trigger Happy TV. Every once in awhile they do a hillarious bit.

Coupling (UK)
The Simpsons (earlier)
Futurama
Family Guy

*The Daily Show

The Red Green Show

The Kumars at 42*

What can I say, I’m weird. It is interesting to me, though, looking at these three, I noticed that they are all shows that are tongue-in-cheek pretending to be something they are not.

The Daily Show is pretending to be a news program, The Red Green Show is pretending to be a community access program and The Kumars is pretending to be a low budget chat show.
