What is the most you've ever paid for a meal for two at a restaurant?

I guess I’ll be the cheapskate of the thread. $50 plus tip for brunch (including drinks) with a friend.

Somewhere in the low $200s, I think. It’s been a while. It was a steak house–maybe Ruth’s Chris or else Sundance in Palo Alto. We don’t drink wine and don’t generally order alcohol with dinner (the spouse will occasionally get a margarita, but not at a steak house), so that was all food. And some large and decadent dessert.

We just spent $350 for dinner at Comic Con earlier this month, but that was for four people.

A little over $200 a few times. The first time was at least 20 years ago and the same meal would cost at least $300 now.

I don’t remember the cost of the entire meal as there were 6 of us. I do remember the turtle soup I ordered as a side was $125.00. This was at La Cage LaFalle in Los Angeles in the late 80’s. I will seldom go over $300.00 for two of us unless it is a very special occassion that has not happened as of yet.

Wow I didn’t know there were so many big spenders on food. The most we “spent” was about USD280, but we had a voucher so we didn’t pay anything. It was an Italian (degustation?) menu of 20 dishes with free flow of champagne and desserts.

The most we actually paid for was about USD150, at Morton’s.

Maybe 1/10th of what posters are saying. I spend less than that for a months worth of groceries for a family of 4. I grew up in the restaurant industry so I’m not opposed to dining out on good food. I highly doubt that I would get much more enjoyment out a $500 one than $50 one, and no one I know would pay any premium for a fancy atmosphere.

Nearly $700. We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and 20 years that we met. Worth it, and something I would do only every 10 years.

Heh, close to $1K, at Alinea, considered one of the best restaurants in the world. Worth every penny.

I’ve had plenty of 3-figure meals. The really depressing bit is that about 80% of the time, they’re not worth it. The $10/plate BBQ place down the street is better.

The Inn at Little Washington. Total bill, when we counted in the tip for parking, was $500. I’ve had better meals for half that, although part of the Inn’s thing is the hospitality, which is great.

Somewhere around $300, but that has happened only a handful of times.

Somewhere around 600 for dinner at Daniel. Like Alinea, one of a handful of Michelin 3-star restaurants in the US.

Last year for Christmas by boss gave me $200 for dinner out as a reward for dealing with some crap at work. My fiancé and I went to one of the nicer restaurants in Denver (Resteraunt Kevin Taylor) it was $110 per person for the meal and we got a cocktail and an extra cheese plate. With tip it was just north of $300 and then we went to see White Christmas. Overall the date cost about $250 out of pocket and was totally worth it.

About $360, at Fulton’s Crab House in Disney World. That includes dessert, but no alcohol.

Same. $526.07 with tip.

I went to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant at Claridge’s in London with a group of people. I probably paid about $250, maybe $300 for myself since we went Dutch. That meal was worth every penny – it exceeded Inn at Little Washington in every respect, IMHO, even though I heard that Claridge’s was “slipping” over the last several years.

$300 per couple is easy at Chopsin Buckhead or The Palm, also in Buckhead.

Kobe steaks at Chops and 7 pound lobsters at The Palm. Mmmmm, steak.

BH is the “fancy” part of Atlanta, and there are many great restaurants where you can drop that much on dinner excluding wine.

Sadly my daughter has become used to the Kobe beef now, and turns her nose up at “regular” places like Outback or Longhorn.

“Can’t we go to Chops tonight? It’s been a week!” :smack:

About $500 around 10 years ago at the French LaundryTotally worth it. I did not expect it to be (it was for my husband, early in our relationship). I’m quite happy with $12-for-two places (miss you, Del Taco), but this was a really fantastic experience.

For a dinner for two with my husband we haven’t spent that much, probably less than $100. I went with my sister and mother to Daniel, and a dinner for three was right about $600. This included two alcoholic beverages each (mixed drinks for me, glasses of wine for the other two). We could have spent way more on wine, though, judging by the 43-page wine list.

The Ex wife and I had an $800 plus dinner at Micheal Meana’s in San Francsico. It was unbelievably incredible. We had everything from soup to nuts, including the lobster pot pie. Everything was perfectly prepared and the service was awesome. Still, there was some buyers remorse, but we (correctly) assumed we would never be back there.

About $450 for the Omakase + continuations at Sushi of Gari, not including alcohol. Unbelievably worth it!

$150 at a seafood restaurant. Won a gift certificate from a radio station.
