What is the song that was playing when Ted Kennedy got introduced at the DNC?
You tube clip here. You don’t have to watch the whole thing, the music is only near the start.
I know it’s a re-recorded version of something more familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it. Disturbingly, it sounds a bit like “Church Of The Poisoned Mind” by Culture Club, which seems like a bad choice for someone with terminal brain cancer…
I agree, it does sound a little bit like part of “Church of the Poisoned Mind,” albeit vamped a few more times than in the original. I don’t think it’s that, though.
If it was “Church of the Poisoned Mind” then the music director is the most evil queen since someone played “The Best of Times is Now” from La Cage Aux Folles at the 1992 Republican convention.
Only problem is: the music is missing a melody line. It keeps repeating the same phrase on horns and percussion. It might be from Church of the Poisoned Mind, but it’s more likely from Stevie Wonder’s Uptight (Everything’s Alright). Click on the sample at Wikipedia. I guess the message with Kennedy is “Alright (I’m Standing Upright)”.
