What is the name of this 'Sherlock Holmes themed' movie?

I’m looking for the name of modern ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie , seen within the last 20 years. The movie opens in a clinical setting, the staff watching
a group of mentally challenged teenagers getting their candy treats. A staffer notices that one boy always gets the M&M candies. Further review shows that he asks for M&M’s but is speaking in a mentally challenged voice. The staff suspects misdiagnosis. IIRC the hero solves some crimes and his nurse is Dr Watson.

They Might Be Giants came out in 1971, 47 years ago. It starred George C. Scott as the psychiatric patient who believe he was Sherlock Holmes. Scott was in his 40’s, not a child. It’s true that the psychiatrist was a woman named Watson. Are you confusing two movies that you saw long ago? Is there a movie about a boy always choosing the M&M’s?

I watched the youtube trailer. That is certainly the way my movie ended, but not as dark

George Scott is too physically mature for the movie hero I’m remembering. Maybe I am confusing 2 (or more) movies. There are movies with M & M’s, but nothing fits my overall memory . Maybe the Mars company would know if their product was used in a movie.

They Might Be Giants has nothing similar to “The movie opens in a clinical setting, the staff watching a group of mentally challenged teenagers getting their candy treats. A staffer notices that one boy always gets the M&M candies” in it (as far as I can tell). That has to come from another movie (or from your imagination).
