If you’re gonna get a Muffuletta, ONLY get it from The Central Grocery. This is the original, and worth the trip.

I used to pay to have them air-freighted into Akron, when a buddy had a shipping connection. Cost my about $20 for one. But it would feed two. And I never regretted the money.
That’d be Johnny’s Po-Boys. (Can’t remember the address, offhand, but it’s across the street from Emeril’s NOLA.) When my friends and I are in New Orleans, we don’t even have to set a time and place to meet up–we know that around lunchtime we’ll all run into one another at Johnny’s.
All the traditional New Orleans po-boys are great (catfish, crawfish, boudin, etc.), but don’t miss the roast beef, which is spectacular. And if you’re hung over (and the odds are in favor of that being the case at some point), a bacon and egg po-boy with some cheddar is the best way I can think of to show your GI tract who’s boss.
Check out the top of the World Trade Center. I tell everyone this, because I think alot of people miss it. There is a bar on the 33rd ? floor of the NOWTC and it revolves 360 degrees in one hour. It used to be called Top of the Mart, the name changed last year to Club 360. It provides an awesome view of the city.
Fourth or fifth the Cafe du Monde suggestion. Get a restaurant guide, and decide which appeal to you. It’s been 25 years since I’ve been to Antoine’s, but I’m sure it’s still good. Just stay away from the tourist places.
There are also a bunch of great oyster places right on the Lake.
Have fun - I’m jealous.
