If falling in love is really just loving the way we feel about ourselves while in the presence of that other person, what would we call the feeling we get when being in the presence of someone makes us feel very bad about ourselves? Are love and hate really opposites?
There are many different types of love but I think you are describing the early stage of romantic love or infatuation. That is based on everything that makes up attraction. The opposite of attractive isn’t hate, it is repulsion.
Love and hate both are passionate emotions. I would say indifference is the opposite of love.
Rising out from hate?
This. To feel ***nothing ***in someone’s presence, and for him to have no effect on how you feel about yourself. This isn’t the same as the “nothing” you might feel toward a stranger. To feel this way about someone you know, that’s pretty bad.
I think this is better suited to IMHO.
