I really want to know on how to play a guitar, but since i started to play i wanna know about the tips of guitar, can anybody help me?
If you have a Mac with Garage Band, they have a learning tool for the guitar that little miss D18 has used and I was impressed with it. My nephew got pretty good just by looking for guitar tips on YouTube.
I’ve also drawn this thread to the attention of a moderator b/c it will probably do better in Cafe Society.
Moving to Cafe Society.

The straight way to play guitar is to do it while having sex with the opposite gender. I would suggest learning the chords to a Marvin Gaye song.
Do you have more specific questions?
You’re question is somewhat confusing and I’m not sure what you mean by “the tips of guitar”.
There are a lot of guitar heads around here and pretty much all of them have contributed to this thread.
You might want to read through it and see if it helps you use some terminology that can help us help you.
Good luck with your playing. Nothing can replace lots of practice and study but some of the tips on that thread might help you with your learning curve.
What about the video game Rocksmith, which is marketed as a way to learn how to play guitar (more than Guitar Hero, which is only marketed as a game)? I mean, obviously real-life lessons from a good music teacher are better, but could one pick up some fundamentals from Rocksmith, or would one learn bad habits? (FYI, here is a review from GameSpot.)
Learn the “blues scale.” Not sure what the technical terms for it is. Google it.
It allows you to play lead over a rock or blues rythym track. Learn it all over the fretboard.
If you are more of a rythym type. get a chord book.
Lots of good instructional vids on Youtube.
I was never a good guitar player, but when I was a teenager I basically did the blues scale thing, and learned from tablature things from Jimmy Page and Clapton’s cover and solo over “Hideaway” (great record by Freddie King). Never had the fingers to master chords – too ham-handed, but it was fun.
In general, I’d say just find something you like, and try to play it. Simplistic, but it’s the classic way to learn.
I’m only weighing in to keep this thread alive – I’m always interested in how different performers approach these kinds of questions.
ETA AFAIK the term for blues scale is “blues scale” – everyone knows what that is, and it’s always called that. You can get into different minor/major/pentatonic, but blues scale is universal.
Don’t let your wrist go limp.
Yes it’s a joke. But also true when you’re fingering chords. Keep that wrist straight.
