The force formerly known as ‘normal’?
The standard religions have some pretty dumb stuff, especially if you take them literally: Noah, Jonah, etc. But so many adherents do not that it becomes iffy. They still have a damn long way to go though to catch up with Scientologists, or even Mormons, if for no other reason than we actually have documentation of their founders and what went into the beginnings of these religions.
But they’re not as much fun to discuss. Besides, pretty much EVERY thread around here is about mainstream religion anymore, and it gets boring after awhile.
Raelism, it is weird. I learned about it from the “Oh No! Ross and Carrie” Podcast. They show up so you don’t have to.
Can’t argue with that
For a second there I thought it could be a legit stupid people advocacy group. I suppose that some people just don’t have the wherewithal for learning a trade and so can pretty much only ever do menial jobs. A “Stupidist” movement could assert that someone who puts in a full work week at a menial job should be able to earn a decent living, and shouldn’t be looked down upon by the rest of society.
As for the actual thread topic, it’s got to be anti-vaxxers. I’d guess that, per capita, they’re much worse than any religious movement. If you ever meet Andrew Wakefield, you kick him in the dick.
The Quiverfull movement is associated with Bill Gothard and the ATI, and with Doug Phillips (who is a tool) and Vision Forum. They are Christian Dominionists who’ve spawned the Stay-at-home-daughters movement (in addition to being homeschooled, women don’t attend college, don’t work outside the home, and remain in the home until arranged marriages with the spawn of other CD families). The Duggars are some of the LEAST crazy of that movement.
