What is the ultimate fast food joint?

BK gives me heartburn, Hardee’s just sucks, and Mac’s lounge is truly disgusting. I guess Wendy’s is the least repulsive, and I think there’s actually a small percentage of beef in their burgers.

My favorite are the fried chicken places, because they usually provide a well-balanced selection of stuff to go with the chicken dinners. Popeye’s is my favorite (followed by Bojangles, Lee’s Famous Recipe, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.) Bojangles has excellent green beans (not many fast food places even HAVE these!).

As for local chains (here in Salt Lake), Sugarhouse Barbecue and Curry in a Hurry are the best around, though they’re a bit pricey.

Krazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor, Michigan!

It is not a chain, and the one in Ann Arbor is the one and only. But IMHO it is the best fast food/burger joint in the world.

The Flint, Michigan area has a local chain called Halo Burger that is pretty good as well.

Of the major national chains, I’d have to say that Wendy’s gives you the most and best quality for the money. Burger King’s burgers are good but their fries not so good, Mickey D’s fries are great, but their burgers are only so-so.

The Varsity in Atlanta, Ga. The world’s largest drive-in. The chili dogs and onion rings are legendary and clog the arteries very well.
-The Varsity-

japatlgt, I’d forgotten the wonderful Varsity. The world’s most disgusting and delicious chili dogs, and onion rings to kill for. I was sitting in the CNN room at the V (the real one, on North Ave.) when I learned that the Berlin Wall had come down.

Mmmm, Varsity…

** Popeyes. ** I think I’m addicted, because I feel a craving deep in my soul, even when I’m not hungry. I don’t know if that’s normal or not, and I can’t really say that I care. I just know that I could live off of Popeye’s… Scurvy might be a problem, but I could just drink Hi-C. It’s a win-win situation! Yes to chicken and no to scurvy!!!

Hate to double post, but can I get an edit-post option?

National (well, semi-national) chain: Steak N’ Shake, hands down.

Hey, it is too fast food, they have a drive through.

Local chain: Gross’ Burgers. Owned by an ex-Marine. Great little place that serves up steak-burger-like burgers. They have regular hamburgers and cheeseburgers, swiss and cheddar cheese available, and the best: they’ve got pizzaburgers. PIZZABURGERS. Their fries are also pretty good, they use garlic salt or somesuch…

the original post should probably be in the IMHO forum,
but I can always go for a taco bell fix.

Astro Burgers

Props to Sonic and In-N-Out Burger of course. Another Southern California chain that is a favorite is YOSHINOYA - yummy japanese fast food like beef and chicken bowls.

WIENERSCHITZEL has the best chili fries. (the hot dogs are actually not so good, IMHO).

Also, WHITE CASTLE. Visited a friend in New Jersey over the summer and I asked, nay, BEGGED him to take me to one.

Don’t forget BACKYARD BURGERS in the south. That’s GOOD eatin!

HIRES BIG H in the Salt Lake City area has the best burgers and a very cool atmosphere.
WHATABURGER? Feh - I got sick the one and only time I went there.

I think I am blessed (or cursed) - within 3 miles of my house are a Carl’s Jr, Jack In The Box, KFC, A&W, Del Taco, In-N-Out Burger, BK, Taco Bell, Wienerschitzel and McDs.

OH! Another So Cal tradition is THE HAT. Huge pastrami sandwiches are a draw, but it is notable in that it is probably the only place where you can order Poutine here (except order a “wet fries with cheese” - they don’t speak Quebec out here).

cadolphin;
i work for an animal hospital which includes a dachhund rescue, and i laugh out loud every time i see that hysterical commercial.

but i place my vote for MickyD’s too. I have been living in Sweden the past 5 years and was absolutely in tears (of joy) when the nearest one started a breakfast menu. The Swedes are finally “getting” the whole drive thru philosophy, and this is one American that will be there for that egg 'o muffin and hash brown…thank you very much!!!

could that be dach"s"hund? lol

I always thought it would be neat to have a restaurant specializing in “fast food” where if the customer could eat it faster than the cooks could provide it, it was free…

Can I get a what, what?

No doubt The Varsity at many locations here in Atlanta! The perfect beginning to a heart attack, but soooo worth it! I have a friend in Chicago that keeps his frequent flyer miles just for trips here to satisfy his appetite.

McDonald’s.

I mean, what’s the point of fast food if it’s not greasy and fattening?

Mmm…grease

also eggspectations is my other choice mmmmmmm crepes

Sweet, sweet White Castle.
And Taco Bell.
