What is the worst case scenario for SARS?

I just read on CNN that some scientest think it could be airborne. If so, where do you think the situation will sit, say 1 or 2 months from now? Air travel will be banned? Every city will have several cases of it? Will it eventually just “sweep” through the population and we’ll end up losing 3-4% of us to it?

I’m not trying to be terribly alarmist, but it does somewhat concern me, especially since I do have some air travel coming up within the next couple of weeks. Not to any “hotspots” with it (yet) but still to a very major city. I will admit, this is making me far more concerned than say, Ebola outbreaks that you hear about in Africa.

I think the Chicken Little hypotheticals are way off. Only 4% of all those infected by SARS die, so losing “3-4% of us to it” would require every person in the world to contract it. At the worst, I think we will see deaths in the thousands in the less developed countries affected by it, and only (!) hundreds in developed countries.

Well, I would hazard a guess that pretty much every person on the planet has had a cold at one time or other, so is it unrealistic to assume that over time every person on the planet may come into contact with this (presumebly) Virus?

Eh. Maybe I’m just a victim of an over-zealous media.

Worst case is that I have to walk across the country looking for an old black woman, and battle Randall Flagg in Las Vegas.
