When I was in 9th grade, the actress Ali McGraw was very popular. She was known for her thick, dark eyebrows. I decided I needed those too in order to be cool now that I was in high school, so I borrowed my mom’s eyebrow pencil and drew myself some Ali brows. Keeping in mind that I am a fair-skinned, .
light-eyed pale blonde and you can imagine how ridiculous I looked with my big dark drawn in brows.
And if that weren’t enough, I put on pearlized white lipstick, also popular at the time.
My high school BFF has a Polaroid picture of me on that first day of high school that she threatens me with periodically.
I had Earth Shoes. I was walking uphill all the time for a year there back in the early 1970’s.
I can honestly say that i followed no bad fashion trends.

For the most part, I still dress like I did in college: white button-down long-sleeve oxford shirts and khakis/jeans/slacks.
