What is the worst or most condescending advice you have been given?

If there are exceptions, then it’s not a day that “everyone” takes off for a holiday. Exactly what I said.

Well, sure. But history is history - there’s no going back unless you want Nothing but Flowers. When you don’t have utilities there is no need for utility workers  . But assuming electricity, potable water and sewage systems, computer networks, health care, etc., there will always be 24/7 workers. And not just a few of them - automation isn’t that good yet.

You are not alone.

Dad, 'zat you?

My father was adamant that Sunday was for family. You get all the yard work done on Saturday, you don’t play with your friends :grimacing:, and you all go to church, then visit Grandma.

And you do NOT stop on the way to buy anything. You stock up on food ahead of time (usually something to grill), and if you broke a shoelace or forgot your sunglasses…“You’re making do, young man, it’s The Sabbath.”

My dad tried to dissuade me from learning to type on an electric typewriter, back in 1974. He thought they were a flighty, newfangled invention and would soon disappear. He thought the only real way to type was on a manual.

Well, they have.
