There’s a deli up the street from me which sells, among other things, halal coldcuts, and some cheeses. One is a hard white cheese sold in slices, not chunks, with a very strong smell and flavor. Its English label is only ‘Egyptian cheese’. I’m not sure if it has an Arabic label, but other things do, so perhaps I could try to transcribe it next time I’m there. Once it may have had peppercorns in it. It’s very sharp, way beyond, say, feta in the tangy area.
I love the stuff, but what is it? Is it made from cow or goat milk? Google doesn’t really help, though it does sort of narrow the field a bit.
