What is this plant?

As might be obvious in the pictures, these plants are growing in some old, unused planters outside. The only thing that I can recall being planted in that pot (which never seemed to grow) are acorns. These are not oak trees.

Whatever the plant is, it has grown from nothing noticeable to the current size since I mowed the grass 2 weeks ago. It has a woody stem, which makes me think it is a tree, but whatever it is, it is very fast-growing.

Have you tried smoking any?

Looks like a young buckeye tree, Litoris. Look over these pictures and see what you think-

That, or some other type of chestnut.

Squink and Beaucarnea have probably nailed it. I know we do have a lot of buckeye trees in the area, so it would be easy for those seeds to end up in our planters.

x-ray vision, obviously in the country there are probably a lot of those plants growing wild. My concern was that perhaps a bird had dropped that particular type of seed in my planter – we don’t smoke.

Thanks for the help, guys!

Or a squirrel; we have pecans in our yard. I’ve seen squirrels taking them to squirrel away, and I’ve found pecan trees sprouting, and it’s not hard to put the two together.
