In the procedure, primarily used by lesbian couples, they remove the egg of woman 1, let’s called her Stephanie, and using the sperm, remove its DNA, and inject it w the DNA of woman 2, Amanda. They then implant the egg, if it takes, the child will be a totally genetic descendant of the women. (by laws of biology, also a guarenteed daughter.)
Um, I don’t know, er…cloning?
Eggs have sperm? Learn something new everyday…
Maybe you’re thinking of ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection), where an embryologist directly implants a sperm into an egg.
If the sperm has been fiddled with as alluded to in OP, then that’s my answer.
I think MachV’s answer is a little closer, then, although I doubt it’s a common technique amongst lesbians unless they have an ultra-secret lesbian cloning lab that you weren’t supposed to tell us about.
ICSI is just straightforward putting the sperm into the egg. No DNA manipulation.
