What is this? (Roman Polanski arrest report)

When the Polanski case broke on Yahoo, I clicked the link and got this (copied verbatim from screenshot):

Is this newspaper people talk that got slipped into the article?

Edited title to make subject more specific.

Thanks, Miller.

In a word, yes. It’s been posted multiple times at Reddit.
Yes, it’s a mistake, but the notes/conversation is reassuringly professional, what with the talk of double-checking sources.

The mention of a possible UBS connection is the only real revelation (probably not the right term).

Thanks. Would you happen to know what some of those terms refer to? “writethru”, “ubs”, “aptn”?

Other than the news talk - it is damn good news.

Writethru I’m having a hard time nailing down, but I believe it’s when an article is updated and re-written with additional facts.

UBS is a major bank based in Switzerland, the implication is that the US government pushed for Switzerland to help nab Polanski is quid-pro-quo for helping out the bank. (Porbably nothing to it, though.)

APTN stands for the Associated Press Television Network.

Thanks, garygnu… it makes a bit more sense now.

That’s correct.

Here is an article about the mistake.
