What is this t-shirt a reference to?

This t-shirt place never explains their references, because they aren’t official licensees and don’t want to get sued. I can’t figure this one out, and it’s been a long time since I’ve first seen it and I just give up.

Here’s the shirt:

The logo is a row of six blue squares, over another row of three yellow squares and three red ones. From the description, it sounds like it’s from some sci-fi movie. But I have no idea.

Please help!

It’s a Star Wars thing.

More specifically, it’s like the Imperial military insignia.

Thanks! That was enough of a clue. It’s the “Grand Moff” insignia.

That’s pretty obscure, even though it is Star Wars.

And that is why I love this board.
It took all of three minutes for someone to come up with an answer.
Sweet.

That’s a cool shirt. Too bad it only comes in small.

I’m going to have to start paying more attention to the uniforms in Star Wars. Did Grand Moff Tarkin actually wear that insignia in the movie?

Various Imperial officers wore that insignia… or, rather, variations of it, with different patterns/colors representing different ranks.

A Star Wars shirt…that only comes in SMALL? Not to stereotype or anything but are they not aware of the fan base? The majority of Star Wars fans (that are left) are not exactly petite.

This page explains the rank structure of the Imperial Navy. There are additional pages describing the rank structure of the Imperial Army and Stormtrooper ranks, if you’re really interested. The T-Shirt’s title “Moment of triumph” is from a line in Star Wars: A New Hope, where a junior officer approaches Grand Moff Tarkin (commanding officer of the Death Star) with the news that the Rebels may have found a weakness in the blueprints. He suggests that Tarkin head for his shuttle. Tarkin’s response, in a refined British accent:

“Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances.”

Shortly thereafter,

the Death Star is destroyed! (did you REALLY need me to put that in a spoiler box?)

…and everyone has a good laugh at the former Grand Moff’s expense.

That particular shirt is only available in small because it’s been discontinued and they’re clearing the stock.
