What is this weird movie?

I remember about 10 years back I saw this weird movie at my grandparents house. I was younger and it kinda freaked me out. The only thing i remember is the lead character getting chased inside of a bowling ball or something of that nature? It was a fantasy type movie, and these things were chasing the main character, and it was set in some type of fantasy city that sort of reminded me of munchkin land off “The Wizard of Oz”. Sorry, i know it’s not a lot to go on, but can anyone help me out with the name of this movie?

Thanks, Conti

Labyrinth?

Was the main character male or female? If female I’d go with Labyrinth too.

Th Prisoner?

The Prisoner was a TV show, wasn’t it, lissener? Or was there a movie the show was based on?

I’m just leaving room for the unreliability of memory.

Sounds like an episode of The Prisoner to me, too.

Well it sounds like Labyrinth Did the film star Jennifer Connely (oh that’s academy award winning Jennifer Connely) and David Bowie and a bunch of muppets?

That would be Labyrinth.

I’m thinking The Big Lebowski but that fantasy city was Los Angeles.

It could very well be Labryinth. I cant remember specific details, and I cant even remember if the lead character was male or female. I guess i’ll just have to rent Labryinth and see. Thanks for the replies people.

Conti

Conti, this probably isn’t it, but there was a movie called “The 10,000 Fingers of Dr. T”. It was made in 1952 and was about a piano teacher that wanted to dominate the world with boys playing a 500 person piano(?). No, I don’t know why.
The people in the city were constantly chasing the hero, who was a kid that didn’t want to play the piano. He was dreaming all of this.
It was a Dr. Seuss story.
The city was a odd OZ style like Dr. Seuss had.
This freaked me out when I was about 10 or so.

Marine_One, the movie you are thinking of is actually “The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T.” (See http://us.imdb.com/Title?0045464 ).

It’s interesting to note that you got the number of boys right, but the number of fingers wrong. (Personally, I never make mistreaks.)

But, as you said, this doesn’t sound like the right movie anyhow.

Could it be “James and the Giant Peach?”

If it were live action with David Bowie cast, it could be Labyrinth. It sounds like what you described.

Watched Labyrinth this weekend. No scene of Sarah getting chased inside a bowling ball-type thingy.

But she is inside one of the crystal balls Jareth holds and spins around, after the sort of dream sequence where she’s at the masquerade ball dressed in that princess-type ball gown.

It could be Monkeybone I suppose, but that wasn’t ten years ago by anyone’s reconning. Whoa, I just admitted I saw that. So embarrassing.

Conti, I think I can help. Was it a Christmas movie? I recently had the misfortune of witnessing portions of Babes in Toyland, a true stinker of a movie starring Drew Barrymore and Keanu Reeves. Richard Mulligan is the bad guy, who lives in some sort of large bowling ball. Drew Barrymore arrives in Toyland after a bonk on the head sledding (I think), which is peopled with toys and assorted fairy tale characters living in something resembling an Oz-like fantasyland. Actually it looks more like trailers with stuck-on cardboard scenery. It’s really, really bad.

Eileen Brennan and Pat Morita are also in it. It’s hard to believe this movie was actually made! It’s that bad. But, I think it’s the one you’re looking for.

I watched Labryinth…that wasnt the movie. I’ve seen Babes in Toyland and James and the Giant Peach, those werent it either. I guess it could be “The 5000 fingers of Dr. T” but that doesnt really sound like the movie i’m thinkin about.

The only other clue I have really, is that I remember it being on TV about 10 years ago, I dont believe we were watching a tape or anything, so it probably had been out for some time, maybe even a 40’s or 50’s era film. However, i do remember it being in color, and I guess it could had been a made-for-tv movie.

Oh well, thanks for the replies people!
Conti

Oh Conti I was so sure it was Babes in Toyland! According to imdb, it IS a made-for-TV movie.

I can’t believe there’s ANOTHER movie with scenes set in a bowling ball.
