What is/was the Missouri Republic? Some kind of hate group?

A few times in recent weeks I’ve seen this flag. It’s apparently the flag of the Missouri Republic, and I’m guessing it has something to do with hate or separatism or white supremacy, considering a) where I’ve seen it in real life (viz, flying on the same pole as Trump 2024 flags or what have you) and b) the vendors (such as the one I linked to) that sell it.

I’m not aware of Missouri ever having been an independent republic, a la Texas or California, and if there’s a separatist movement afoot, we’d be the worst candidate ever, considering we’re surrounded on all sides by the nation from which we’d separate, and utterly lack any seaports or other means of supporting our own economy.

I’ve searched “Missouri Republic” and all I get is info about the Missouri Republican Party and/or the town of Republic, MO. Nothing on the Southern Poverty Law Center about a hate group with that name.

What am I missing here?

Your link (to a store that sells it, which is called “Confederate Shop”) says:

So, if not actual separatists, at least lost-cause Confederate supporters, I’d guess.

At least they didn’t call it the “War of Northern Aggression.”

And looky there! The perfect flag for a ‘Red, (very) White, and Blue’ Christian Nationalist!

One of our elected representatives says plainly and clearly on their website that they support Christian Nationalism. This flag is probably tattooed on them somewhere.

Just one?

I spent 1945 in Slater Missouri. I have a vague recollection of kids bringing up the Republic of Missouri during school classes. It was a clandestine organization descended from Quantrills Raiders.
