And your right, you are in danger of being a MPSIMS’er …be carefull, I’m being close to being recognized myself… some banned troll had a hard on for mentioning my name for reasons I cant imagine. Hey… ever posted as FlatULance?

My parents became 970 some years ago. I went home to visit them right after it happened. One day I decided to call my fiancee from a payphone using my AT&T card. It told me that international phone calls cannot be made with my card. I didn’t realize that Grand Junction, CO and Adelphi, MD were in different countries. 
(Obviously, the stupid LD computers didn’t recognize my pay phone’s new area code as being American.)

h_thur, I heard a Western Swing band called Area Code 512. How appropriate. I think they should have used the code for somewhere further West, like Childress or Amarillo, or best of all Turkey, the home of Bob Wills. Maybe those are also 512…

212, hurray! When I moved to the Big Evil City, I was concerned I’d be stuck with a lesser, new code like 646. I suspect that if I get a cell phone, though, it might be 646; 917 isn’t the sure thing it used to be. Too many phone, apparently.
Once, long ago, I used to have 212 as well. However, about fifteen years ago, the phone company assigned us to the numerical equivilant of Siberia… 718.

If you look in the phone book there is a nifty feature included called an area code map. Most people have mentioned their location at some point.
