All time: Peanuts
Current: four way tie Arlo and Janis
For beter or for worse
Herman
Baby Blues
I can’t believe no one has mentioned Bloom County !
Also:
Far Side
Bizzaro
Calvin and Hobbes
Worst:
Family Circus (blech)
All time Far Side, Calvin & Hobbes and Peanuts. If you read early Peanuts they bear a striking resemblence to early Calvin & Hobbes.
Right now I enjoy Cats with Hands, Foxtrot and Mutts. Cats and Mutts both do a great job of getting into the mind of the animals, much as C&H and Peanuts did a good job of getting into the mind of children.
Honorable mention to Alley Oop. My dad and I used to read it together when I was really really young. Good times. Plus my dad could sing the song like no one else.
Calvin and Hobbes is the best strip. Too bad it’s not around but I don’t begrudge him for getting out while the getting was good.
Dilbert sucks ass being so fucking dull and unimaginative. Though I do have to admit these Dilbert strips are hilarious.
Dilbert absolutely freaks me out. I swear to God the guy that draws that is spying on the building I work in. The manager in that strip even looks like my boss! It’s insane!
All Time: Calvin and Hobbes. Extra points to BW for showing integrity and class and not going all Garfield on us.
Right now: Fox Trot, Get Fuzzy, and The Boondocks. I love how Fox Trot makes a lot of current references to pop culture, especially any strip involving Jason and video games or movies. The Boondocks also had some brilliant strips on the “war” on terrorism and Grand Theft Auto 3. And a cool thing about Get Fuzzy that no one has mentioned is all the cool shirts Rob wears. One time he was even wearing a Michel Goulet Quebec Nordiques jersey. Now that’s cool.
Strips I hate: BC, Family Circus, Curtis, Mallard Filmore (but that’s another story).
Current winner: Boy Meets Boy.
Close second: Dykes to Watch Out For.
Classics: Calvin & Hobbes, Far Side, Bloom County.
Sneaking fondness: Dilbert, Fox Trot, The Norm, Zits.
Honourable Mention: For Better Or For Worse.
Current?
Mutts
I’m a sucker for cute doggies…
All time favourites?
Krazy Kat
Also, back in the Nixon administration through the election of Reagan, Doonesbury was pretty good.
Diesel Sweeties:
Chalk up one more to the legions of Calvin and Hobbes fan club and official member of G.R.O.S.S. Also I kind of miss Andy Capp but in that remember the good old days when they weren’t as good as you remember kind of way.
And to all of those who dislike Dilbert there is a special place in Heck just waiting for all of you dissidents.
Foxtrot I enjoy and I used to like Gasoline Alley (as to why exactly I’m still not sure) Crankshaft on occasion. Occasionally All in the Family manages to cracks me up. When Rose (Rose is Rose) is that biker girl she gets my full, undivided attention, and call me a weirdo but I like Doonesbury too.
Clever Hans: [little boy from Shane voice] Come back Bill Waterson come baaaaaaaaaaaaack [/little boy from Shane voice]
Favorites of all time: Bloom County, Calvin and Hobbes, and Blondie.
Current faves: Mutts, The Pirahana Club, and Zits.
Zap!
All time favorite: CALVIN & HOBBES (Lord! I wish it was back!)
Current favorite: GET FUZZY. Took me a while to warm up to it. The cat was badly drawn and ugly, I thought. But I do identify with Satchel. And Bucky has grown on me! Robbo really loves his animals. . . and I love mine!
Least favorite ever: BOONDOCKS. This strip scares the ---- out of me!
Calvin and Hobbes and Non Sequitur

And of course, Doonesbury and Dilbert.
Like they say, there’s no accounting for taste.
All time favorite strip ever: Pogo
Props to Bloom County, Calvin & Hobbs and Far side.
Current reads:**
Dilbert
Pickles
Doonsberry
Prince Valiant (shaddup!)
Stone Soup
Mother Goose and Grimm
**
My favorite currently running strip was Shoe until the Distended Orifices[sup]tm[/sup] that edit the Oregonian stopped running it, so now I guess my current favorite is Mother Goose and Grimm.
In the ‘Not Really Strips, But Still Cartoons’ category:
9 to 5 is also good, but we don’t get it here.
Also, check out the Animated Oliphant
I like the comic for geeks. User Friendly.
