What is your favorite commercially made seasoned salt?

Cavenders, anything fron Paul Prudhomme.

Being a Penzeys fan, that is one of my favorites, but on burgers, I like Chicago and on pork chops, Pork Chop seasoning*. Chicken I use a variety depending on whim.

*I think their label namer must have been out sick the day they came up that one.

Lawry’s

Had I been asked this question a couple months ago I would have said I had no preference. However, I’ve always purchased Lawry’s seasoned salt simply because that was the only brand of seasoned salt I can recall seeing on the store shelves. A couple of months ago, a local grocery store started offering a store brand generic that cost about 25 cents less per container so I bought that. After a few weeks I noticed the seasoned salt was starting to cake in the new container, that and it was marginally less good tasting compared to Lawry’s. So when I buy the next bottle of season salt, I’ll opt to spend the additional quarter and get Lawry’s again.

Penzeys. Both the Smokey and the Spicy are in regular rotation around here.

I have always like SH** Seasonings.

Despite the funny names, they actually quite good.

Tony Chachere’s for me! It goes on almost everything!

Borsari Cracked Pepper or original seasoning salt.

Maybe it’s because the stuff is in my DNA, (I grew up about a half mile from the factory!) but Lawry’s Season Salt is my go-to.

This is my fave.

Season All (McCormick)

All NaCl pretty much tastes the same to me. I never buy a mixture as I prefer to add spices alone and not mixed with salt.

Huh? Salt is a seasoning. If I want flavours additional to salt I’ll add them myself.

Goya Adobo, Tony Chachere’s, Slap Ya Mama, Cavender’s Greek Seasoning

You can, of course, but some commercial preparations are so engrained into our taste buds that many of us just like using the tried-and-true stuff. Old Bay, in particular. I’ve made a number of “clone” recipes, but none of them taste quite like Old Bay to me. So why bother? When I want the taste of Old Bay, I have Old Bay right there.

Aromat. It’s the MSG that makes it great.

I’ve got about a half-dozen salt or salt-substitute mixtures on the shelf, but the big three are as follows: Everything but the Bagel for salads and avocado toast, Slap Ya Mama for foods that could use a little spice kick, and Mrs. Dash for everything else.

Me too. Like Zatarain’s, only better.

I only buy Lawry’s. It’s the only one I like.
