What is your job and how much money do you make per year?

Not an easy question to answer I assume for most people but let’s see.
Of course anyone could just lie, but I hope those that answer will give an honest
response.

[Moderating]
cornflakes2, please pay attention to what you post. You posted this in General Questions. Moving to IMHO.

sorry!

btw Chronos, how much do you make for being a moderator? Or is it a voluntary job?

I’m a snake charmer, and I get paid in heroin.

I don’t even tell the IRS. What makes you think I’m going to tell you?

Hehe…actually I already know most people don’t want to divulge this kind of information which was going to be my other question attached to this…in a world where everyone is pushing for “transparency” because technology is allowing it more and more easily…then why don’t people share how much money they make or all the corporations and companies should tell us how much each of them are making.

I find it very ironic that everyone wants more transparency but then get all upset when someone wants to know how much money you have or make. It’s like when feminists go raging mad over the fight for equality but then still expect a man to be chivalrous to her. I mean what do you want? You want to be treated as an equal? Then live by the sword, die by it. That kind of thing

I’m retired, but when I quit working I was making about $90K/year. That was 11 years ago.

Well, “cornflakes2” if that is even your real name, how come you didn’t start the ball in the OP with your job and income?

Do you see how that choice might influence people’s inclination to be open?

And how is posting job and income to this message board “transparancy” anyway? It’s a board full of mostly pseudonymous posters.

First of all, for many corporations and companies we know exactly how much money they’re making. They report it quarterly and annually, and you can look it up. There is even information and estimates for privately held corporations.

Second, why do you say “everyone is pushing for transparency?” I don’t see a lot of that.

Again, “everyone?” And what kind o f “transparency” do you think people want? Just because I want to know who is contributing to a politician’s campaign doesn’t mean I think I have a right to know my neighbor’s income. Different things entirely and not ironic at all

Really? Do you have an example?

Say what? People want transparency in government. Can you point me toward all these people arguing for more transparency in everyone’s personal lives?

Freelance writer, ~15k per year.

Before anyone freaks out about the abject poverty in which I live, keep in mind that I live in a DINK (double income no kids) household, Mrs. Homie makes about the same, and we live in an area with an extremely low cost of living. Our car is paid off and we don’t have a commute (and with gas going for a song these days anyway…).

I live on the upper range of the lower middle class lifestyle.

I’m unemployed due to a layoff in 2019. My other job scoring standardized tests is on hiatus, I’m sure the unions are ecstatic.

I got laid off due to COVID-19, so I don’t have a job right now.

According to my mother, it’s vulgar to talk about how much you make. When I was working, I made a great deal more than most of my friends, and some of my family, and a great deal less than some of my family. Some of my relatives are multi-millionaires, others are comfortable, some are getting by. Nobody brags, nobody complains, it works out.

I used to work for a Wall Street firm, in the payroll area. Some people there made a lot of money - like “more in a week than I made in a year” lot. Mentioning names or amounts would have been more than my job was worth, so I got into the habit of just treating it like abstract numbers. I have everything I need, and most of what I want.

Who says I want more transparency? I get enough people trying to get at my money already.

If it helps, just assume I got more than you.

Shodan

Having avoided the trap of getting a college education, I work in a factory that makes rats…I put the tails on.

I am paid entirely in cornflakes.

Im a Bulgarian mole working for the CIA. I earn 75K from Uncle Sam and another 20K from the Bulgis. When the Bulgarians make their move and take over the USA I expect to make twice that.

I, for one, welcome our new Bulgarian overlords! Madradjisko for everyone!

I’ll tell you if you go first.
