Cabaret is probably my most favorite movie musical and I’m liable to break out in song whenever I think about it. (Money makes the world go round, Two Ladies, Tomorrow Belongs to Me, WillKommen, Maybe this time, Mein Herr)
Shawshank Redemption is a movie I am unable to catch a glimpse of without stopping whatever I am doing to watch it. Thankfully, I no longer get TBS, so it isn’t as much of a problem as it used to be.
Goodfellas- One of the finest mob movies ever, rivaled only by my other favorite mob movie “My Blue Heaven.”
I waited forever to procure “When We Were Kings” and it was very well worth the wait. An excellent documentary not only of the Rumble in the Jungle, but the two fighters, Muhammad Ali (The Greatest) and the man who eventually became the legendary George Foreman.
**Death Race 2000 **-- With David Carradine playing a character called Mister Frankenstein, and Sly Stallone machine-gunning the scenery, and some boobage to boot, what’s NOT to like?
Vanishing Point – The original, not the remake. Can’t explain this one in words, you just had to be there.
Le Mans – Yes, there were maybe three words of dialogue in the entire movie. But it’s about racing–and oh boy, do we get racing-- not talking and that’s what I love baout it. “When you’re racing, you’re living. Everything else is just waiting.” Got it, Steve; you da man.
