What Is Your Political Typology?

You were ahead of your time!

I would have said New Coalition Democrat, but was rated Post-Modern (13% of the American population). Surprised not to see any questions on trade policy, gun control or abortion rights.

Libertarian. Not surprised–I’m fiscally conservative and socially liberal, so I don’t really fit into either Democrat or Republican territory.

Along with 14% of the public, Solid Liberal

I already knew that.

“Solid Liberal”, although like other people I wasn’t too happy with the questions. I’d personally regard “Solid Liberal” as “moderate”, and me well to the left of that.

You ain’t alone. But, as noted above, American socialists and communists are in this study a small subset of “Solid Liberals”; just as Libertarian Party libertarians are a small subset of the “Libertarian” typology, most of whom would never think seriously of abolishing the income tax or the Federal Reserve system.

I hated some of the choices, too. On many, I wanted to select both.

Depending on how those shook out, I ended up Solid Liberal or Post-Modern.

I came in as a Post-Modern. I wonder if my answers regarding age and financial stability are the determining factor .

I came up Solidly Liberal, which I find surprising. I think that result is disproportionately related to my views on the environment and on social justice, which seem over represented on this survey. Oh well.

A boring old solidly liberal. Yawn.

Of course the Doper community, being rooted in a column published in urban alternative weekly tabloid newspapers, is mostly Solid Liberal. But I am genuinely surprised that we seem, so far by polling in this thread, to have more Staunch Conservatives (3) than Main Street Republicans (1).

I got Solid Liberal, but I thought many of the questions were dysfunctional. Almost none of them were complementary and many of them overlapped; on some I wanted to choose neither, on others I wanted to choose both. That said, “solid liberal” is at least pretty close to describing me politically, though it misses my individual libertarian streak.

why would it label me a solid Liberal?

I am about the same, for what it is worth.

On a side note, I did the poll twice. The second time I answered opposite of what I actually believe. That turned me into a disaffected.

Odd.

Slee

I do find myself wondering what typology most of the 1% would fall into.

My guess is, some Staunch Conservatives like the Kochs and Scaifes, some Solid Liberals like Buffet and Soros, some Libertarians and some Post-Moderns, but mostly Main Street Republicans. I don’t think most of the 1% are too political-ideological. It’s mostly a business class, and business as such has no interest in any political system as such; most (not all) capitalists would gladly sell Lenin the rope with which (he hoped) to hang them.

I did that, too, and it turned me from Post-Modern to Staunch Conservative.

I got changed to libertarian by doing the opposite!!? I’m not sure how that works, as some of my answers involve government meddling, and others were very religious. At a very basic level, many of my thoughts are currently libertarian, I just emphasize the social/domestic over the economic/international.

You are me and I claim my five pounds.

But, I am he, as you are he, as you are me, and we are all together.

Post-modern

I didn’t like the dichotomy of the questions. They were like: “What do you think of Obama: Hitler or Jesus?”

Well, neither.
