What Is Your Political Typology?

I recall a message-button I once saw: “It’s not easy being Hitler and Jesus at the same time.”

No, it isn’t, though I’ve usually been able to manage it.

You’ve probably already seen this: http://truthsite.org/images/AynRandVersusJesus.jpg

I agree for many it was hard to answer. Solid liberal here.

So, is there any significance to the apparent fact that the Elections-forum-interested segment of a messageboard dedicated to fighting ignorance comes out mostly Solid Liberal?

Or is it just something to do with this board being rooted in a column published mainly in urban and college-town alternative weekly tabloids?

Or what?

No.

Are you even excluding “Or what?”

Another Post-Modern Brit here. I wonder what portion of the P-M dopers are not American.

Fine.

First part: no. They’re arbitrary categories, you can call them what you will, or make “less SL” and “more SL.” I don’t believe any category is the right one, even the ones I agree with more.
Second: maybe. Well the results might affect a lean. I will guess that the poll doesn’t completely match with attitutes, e.g. I’d think there are more people who would state that they at least lean libertarian, but not fit the specific standards. Hell most well known “libertarian politicians” are terrible examples of that ideology. And maybe SL is a certain width that encompasses more than it should. Or also that, IMHO, the questions they ask are rather specific to only a few areas of politics (economy, race, religion, and foreign relations/conflict). Although I don’t know if that implies that their results are “wrong” or poorly constructed.

Which party voting preferences would this reflect?

Mostly Democratic. Post-Moderns are 26% Dem, 33% Independent-lean-Dem, 19% Ind-no-lean, 16% Ind-lean-Pub, 7% Pub.

Extreme reactionary … we should govern as we did in the Garden of Eden …

See? Humans can’t obey one law!

If we could, everyone would run around nekked.

Another Solid Liberal, but I agree with many who have objected to the black/white nature of the questions and the lack of nuance or a sliding scale. I felt like I needed to wash my hands after a few of my choices, but if I had selected the other option, I would have needed a full shower.

Well, that’s politics, isn’t it?

Your question has been answered for voting in the US. In the UK, I dominantly (but not always) voted Conservative, but there is no way I would vote for the current Republican party.

My two dual-citizen US/UK sons have both done the quiz and are also Post-Modern.

From RationalWiki:

FWIW.

Libertarian, which didn’t surprise me.

Apparently I’m post-modern… what I don’t get is how does “I’m doing OK financially” fit. My ideology hasn’t changed with my income levels. Oh, and I’m another non-US post-modern (a Foralist, actually, in my own country’s terms).
I liked that you didn’t have to pick in every pair.

Solid Liberal.

On the other hand, we’d be living in a three-person theocracy, with one of the three being the Almighty Himself.

I’ll pass.
