What is your problem, Chronos?

I have watched the video several times including in slow motion and what is apparent is that due to the dog’s length, its centre of mass is high (probably 30 or 40 inches) before its hind feet leave the ground.

The dog then obtains clearance by drawing its feet in and rotating its long length around its centre of mass.

These sorts of confounding factors are at the very heart of the issue and really need to be understood to understand the debate.

Those are good points. But to think no animal can clear 48 inches doesn’t seem reasonable. Kangaroos can jump high. I could have sworn I’ve seen a dolphin get more than 48 inches out of the water.

Hi DPRK. Thanks for the nice videos. The first one is interesting because it looks like the caracal is getting well over 1.2 meters. At 19 secs the toes are extended mostly straight and are about level with the man’s chin. So, maybe 1.6 meters (63 inches), depending on the guy’s height. And the camera/phone seems to have been held level, which makes for better estimates.

But, like in the video mentioned above, the kitty is actually climbing the chain link fence. (I had to watch in slo-mo to be sure.)
