I used to think he just needed to embrace me, but this incident has rendered him unfuckable.
Didn’t Mel piss off the Gay community a few years back? Did he ever even apologize? He seemed to glide his way out of that with no problems.
Now he insults Jews and apologizes TWICE and apparently it’s not enough.
I’m preparing to be offended that it’s okay to insult Gays and not apologize, but God forbid you get drunk and insult JEWS.

Interesting you say that. Personally I thought he passed that point a long time ago. I’ve long since found him rendered that and unwatchable, having chosen not to support his box office. The two occurrences coincided for me.
With respect to his apology, yes, it was better than the weaselly “I’m sorry if anyone was offended” type of apology, but it does not change the substance of the wrong, nor does it change the substance of his underlying beliefs.
I think most Hollywood actors are much more appealing when they keep their mouths shut. Personally I’m amazed that Mel turned out as well as he has given his upbringing.

I never heard about the gay bashing he did. I started wondering about him when the Passion stuff was happening, but I don’t remember seeing anything about him directly (more about his father), so I was reserving judgement.
I’ve always enjoyed his movies, but now that all of this has come to light, well, that changes everything.
The really weird thing is that BAC .12 isn’t really drunk enough to expect that kind of behavior. I mean, it’s drunk, but relatively speaking it’s not that drunk. Driving impairment, slurred speech, delayed reaction time and all that, but you usually don’t see a full-on screaming obscenities and racial slurs at the police shit-fit at that level of intoxication, that’s more like what you’d expect at .17 or .18. Strange.
I think it is damn lucky for him he had been drinking. He would have probably spewed the same shit if he was pulled over for speeding and wasn’t drunk. The alochol gives him a piss poor excuse, but any excuse is better than none. Without the 0.12, what would he have said caused the outburst? Sleepiness? Stress? Reaction to prescription medication? And I agree with above, a 0.12 is definitely not enough alochol to make you not know what’s coming out of your piehole. I also wonder how the reaction would differ if he had railed on blacks instead of Jews.
Here’s a Jew (sorta) who agrees with you. I already knew he was a homophobic sonofabitch; it’s hardly surprising that he’s a Jew-hater, too. Anyone up for blacks?
I’m guessing that the process of becoming unadored is going to be exceedingly painful for him. Instead of everyone looking at him, he’s going to have to start looking at himself.
I believe the guy, and I doubt he actually hates Jewish people. People getting arrested can say some mean, crazy shit, especially when drunk. I knew a guy who got arrested for a DUI and he later told me he just went crazy and became the biggest asshole in the world, calling the policewoman a fuckin’ dyke along with tons of other demeaning anti-gay crap and insults. This is a guy who actually doesn’t hate gay people at all. He just happened to hate one gay person at the time (his boss), who the policewoman happened to strongly resemble. I will never believe he actually secretly hates gay people. Therefore I do not believe that Mel Gibson hates jews based on statements he made in a drunken rage while getting arrested.
I’m astonished by the amount of anti-Semitism on the IMDb forums for Gibson. Almost everyone there seems to be a Nazi or affiliated with some kind of anti-Semitic or racist ideology, all spewing rhetoric about Jew-controlled Hollywood and the Zionists.
A notable exception is gonzo pop-culture commentator Mike Passion, who sometimes posts on the IMDb forums. Here’s what he had to say about the incident:
Gibson asks to meet with Jewish Leaders
Who are the Jewish leaders? I’m guessing that Hal Linden and Abe Vigoda are two, but are there others?
He admits he made the comments but says he’s not an anti-Semite and states that “I am in the process of understanding where those vicious words came from during that drunken display”. I can help him with that: you’re a nutcase and a drunk and a total horse’s ass when you drink. That will be $189 please; please know we don’t file for Blue Cross, cash only.
