What jazz singer am I trying to recall?

This is driving me crazy this morning. This jazz singer is male, white, still living, probably at middle age by now, had dark hair, sort of a Sinatra knock-off, big on variety shows, had some specials, does Vegas, not Georgie Fame.

Michael Feinstein?

Harry Connick, Jr?

Michael Buble? (not middle aged quite yet)

Harry Connick! Thanks!

Brilliant piano player before he is a singer. He’s the real deal.

Got lessons as a young kid from one of the greatest New Orleans pianists, James Booker. He’s learned from the best and can play some hellfire piano when he wants to.

Spiders on the Keys - Booker was The Man, indeed.

Word!

I Googled several variations of male jazz singer, but forgot that Connick was from NOLA. That would have popped his name up right away. But I guess if I’d remembered that fact, I’d have remembered his name, too. This was all triggered by a song on the radio that turned out to be sung by Mel Torme.
