What jobs can most people do? (no freelance, artist, part time stuff)

Some warehouse jobs, some housekeeping/cleaning jobs, Walmart greeter?

Typing.

I learned how to touch-type in high school; most people can learn how, even if it takes a little time. Then they can do transcription work, data entry, etc.

Nickel & Dimed is a good read on the subject of “unskilled” jobs and trying to live on them.

Although getting a Class A CDL (which is what you need in order to drive the big rigs) apparently isn’t a hugely long program (this site indicates that the courses are typically about seven weeks long, if you’re going to the school full-time), it’s still, I think, substantially more training than the sorts of jobs the OP was asking about, given that he specified “without any specific education needed.”

Yes you’re right, but the way the OP was written it seemed like the OP wanted career type jobs that were easy to get into vs. minimum wage jobs.

I believe “burger flipper” is the usual choice.

I’ve done this job before and it was easy, unless the place is run by a company that cuts every corner and you have bad luck.

On my last day as a cashier I was completely by myself (the company owned several stores, each staffed by one person, so I couldn’t even call on another store for help) when the credit card machine broke down (mid-transaction!) and the price display thingie (technical term) literally fell off the machine, requiring me to use one hand to prop it up. Depending on the time of day there could have been more than one person available.

But that’s not normal. Normally a grocery store would have at least two people, so someone could find duct tape or something and fix at least one of those problems.

They make cash registers easy to operate. I don’t have to be good at math, because the cash register acts as a calculator.

I did it for 8 years. I hated every second of it.

But I absolutely wouldn’t classify it as a “skilled” job.
mmm

Its a basic manual labor position in the oil field and typical entry point job that involves lotz of clean out that ditch, pick up garbage along a road. Drive to town and get smokes for the crew. When I did it it was more about hooking up the loads for the crain to lift off and oiling and greasing things, later i filled in for guys on the crew who needed to use the bathroom. Its pays about $15/hour depending on location.

Health insurance claims processor. The main qualifications are to work with minimal supervision and decent with numbers.

Although it’s not entry level, there are three ways to be hired:

  1. Have a college degree in anything and / or
  2. A number of years steady employment, doing anything.
  3. Take a job in the mail room or as a clerk, work your way up in the company.

Basically they just want some indication you stick around at something for a while so you’re not likely to decide to work at Burger King next month.
