What kind of back pain am I dealing with here?

This has been going on for about a week now. I already made a doctors appointment but that isn’t until next week.
The pain is located on my spine, half way down, between my shoulder blades.
When I’m up and about, the pain is mildly annoying. Sometimes, when I move my arms a certain way or I turn my neck a certain way, the pain becomes more pronounced. It’s not too bad but you can certainly feel it.

My biggest issue is when I go to sleep. When I wake up and try to move, the pain is excruciating. Like teeth grinding painful. But after about five minutes of walking around, the pain goes back to a mild annoyance.

What the heck is going on here?

Thanks for any input.

I’ve had something that sounds similar a few times. It usually happens when I’ve had a period at work where things are really intense, and I spend too much time in front of the computer. Rest, plenty of water, mild exercise, and staying on ibuprophen for a few days seems to do the trick.

Changed your title a bit, like you asked, Shakes.

Pay close attention to how you are sleeping. Make some adjustments if need be. I went through a phase where I was actually hyper extending between my shoulder blades, each night, simply by falling asleep in such a tightly curled position! Rolling a towel into a bolster, to clutch while I slept, seemed to solve my problem. Good luck!

Lots of nerve impingement issues in the neck make themselves felt where you feel them. See if bending your neck forward switches the pain off, or if looking to one side does.

Interesting. Putting my head in the “bow position” does alleviate the pain.

Sounds like you might have a rib out of place. Have you seen a chiropractor?

Could be the Ebola Virus.
