What kind is it? What are the general characteristics of this type of dog? (Smart, stupid, crazy, calm, etc?)
Looks like a bull terrier puppy.
I agree that it’s a bull terrier - that nose is pretty distinct!
I don’t know much about the breed, but this site is spot on with my dogs (a Boston and Chinese crested).
Indubitably a bull terrier.
Under the “education” tab here there’s a lot of information about them.
Fun dogs! They were trendy for a while in the late 1980s when BT “Spuds Mackenzie” was featured in Budweiser commercials.
Here’s another writeup that seems solid.
They are a bully-breed dog (the same general grouping that contains pit bulls, bulldogs, and more distantly, boxers). As such, you can expect an active, playful, muscular, goofy, people-loving, indoor dog.
You can also expect some jurisdictions to ban them.
See the end of Patton, as George C. Scott walks into the sunset.
A lot of the dogs are born deaf, BTW. Plus, in my experience they fight like motherfuckers whenever given the slightest provocation, far more than straight-up pits.
Yup, Bull Terrier. I have only known one personally, and she was mostly sweet, but VERY dog aggressive. And when she played fetch you did NOT reach into her mouth for the ball, you waited until she dropped it at yiour feet, if you liked your fingers attached to your hand, that is.
Ack…beaten to the punch.
All the above are correct.
That is a Bull Terrier. AKA Spuds Mackenzie of Budweiser fame.
Easy to spot. That nose is distinctive.
Terriers as a class are notoriously “little” dogs who think they are big. The Bull Terrier is not so little though but the attitude is there.
As for the case you are talking about it is all about training and socializing the dog. Any dog can be a good dog with proper training.
In short the above is a human fault.
Spuds Mckenzie aside, the breed is probably known as “Bullseye”, Target’s mascot.
At least this is how my daughter knows these dogs!
I’ve only known one - and she was totally sweet. Not too bright, but totally sweet.
