I have a large variety of hats, and wear most all of them. Of course, not all at once, you see.
I actually have a specific black fedora to wear with a black coat, a blue baseball cap, a white one, many colored toboggan/beanies, and several “fun” hats. One of these is the kind that is leathery with fur-like material on the inside, plus it has earflaps. It is wonderful. In everyday life, I usually have on one of the caps, but that isn’t always the case…
Later this year, I may purchase a plaid ear-flap hat, but I don’t know yet.

A trilby is similar to a fedora, but with a narrower brim. Actually, some of them almost resemble pork pies or bucket hats.
This is the hat in question. It’s a Stetson. It cost me $10 at the Pennsauken Mart Flea Market (moment of silence, please), it fits me perfectly, and it came in what is likely the original box.
When I’m having a crazy hair day, I’ll wear a baseball cap. But otherwise, I never do, since I don’t think hats are particularly flattering on me.
In fact, the only hat I ever found that looked good on me was when I was in a local crafts store in Amish country. I almost got it simply because it was a hat that didn’t make me look bad–it just made me look a tad anachronistic.
I don’t wear a hat, but I do wear headwraps. My favorite style of headwrap looks somewhat like a hat. Or a ‘crown’ as my husband calls it. It is more like a turban I guess.
For official rock n’ roll use, I have a standard black flat cap, worn backwards so it kinda looks like a beret from the front.
I have a pork pie and a fedora, but don’t wear them nearly often enough.
I just got a stingy brim, “rude boy” corduroy hat in black - can be worn with the brim up, porkpie style or with the front flexed down, more trilby style - basically an updated version of the hats that Brit ska bands like the Specials, the Beat and Selector wore in the early 80’s - I hope it arrives soon!
I heard on the radio this morning that this might be the last year for Byrnie Utz (couldn’t find a store website) on 3rd & Union. The son would like to move the store to Las Vegas. The owner would like to remain in Seattle, but might look for a ‘quieter, less expensive’ area.
Coincidentally, before I heard the story I was thinking about going down there at lunch. Definitely will do now. I’ll look at the trilbies,;and I’d also like to have a look at some higher-quality pork pies than what I have, and maybe check out the Panama hats in case I head south in the summer.
I’m going to be a groomsman in August; the couple has given me the OK to wear a Giants hat as long as it’s black & white, to match the tux; else no one would recognize me.
My wife bought a hat similar to this one for me for Christmas. She got it on sale at the Aussie store next to the Portland Saturday Market. It was on sale cuz the store is being evicted and moving just to an online presence.
I wear a headrag usually, a wool longshoreman’s cap sometimes (like when it’s cold out), and I have a black beret for when I want to look more dressed up.
And I have an SF Giants cap but I mainly only wear it when I go to the game.
