What kind of hinge is this?

Look at my Flickr page and see the drawing of a hinge that I can’t name and can’t find.

I wonder if anyone knows where I can get a pair for a bin i’ve built.

Looks like an obsolete hinge, what does it look like from the side? Check out Hafele for a pretty comprehensive listing of available hinges.

that is a side elevation. A plan view would show it to be very thin.

Of course it’s obsolete, silly! That’s why I want it.

It looks kind of like a knife hinge except that it fastens to the face rather than the edge of the cabinet & door.

My first stop when I’m looking for cabinetry hardware is usually www.rockler.com. They don’t seem to have this exact item and neither does Renovator’s (www.rensup.com) but Rockler does have knife hinges, here’s some of their stock:

(Pause for Googling)

Also looks like a pin hinge:

Looks like the type of hinge used on the fold down leaf of a secretary desk. These usually have extended bases to give more support to the writing surface.

Looks to me like a plain old butt hinge, but screwed to the surface rather than mortised into the wood.

Check out the Lee Valley Hardware Page for a good selection of hinges (with pictures).
