What lyrics remind you of being back on board?

I’ve been humming that daggy old John Denver song, “Back Home Again” all afternon, to my delight and my childrens chagrin.

Hey it’s good to be back home, again
Sometimes this old (board), feels like a long lost friend,
Yes, and hey it’s good to be back home again.

And all the times that I can lay this tired old mind down
Feel your messages, emailing towards me.
The replies that I live for,
The threads that light my way,
The enightenment that logging on gives me.

It’s the sweetest thing I know of
Just spending time on you
It’s the mundane things, that make a board a home.
Like a troll brightly burning,
MPSIMS on a roll,
And the smilies in your post that make me warm.

So, anybody else have songs/lyrics that remind you of this joint, or vice-versa?
Humble apologies to the late H. Deutchendorf.

“On The Road Again”, Willie Nelson

Goodbye — Elton John and Bernie Taupin

And now that it’s all over
the birds can nest again.
I’ll only snow when the sun comes out.
I’ll shine only when it starts to rain.

And if you want a drink,
just squeeze my hand.
And wine will flow into the land
and feed my lambs.

For I am a mirror.
I can reflect the moon.
I will write songs for you.
I’ll be your silver spoon.

I’m sorry
I took your time.
I am the poem
that doesn’t rhym.

Just turn back a page.
I’ll waste away.

Bit OTT but …

*Since You’ve Been Gone, Since You’ve Been Gone
I’m outta my head, Can’t take it
Could I be wrong, but Since You’ve Been Gone
You cast the spell, so break it
Since You’ve Been Gone
So in the night I stand beneath the backstreet light
I read the words that you sent to me
I can take the afternoon, the night-time comes around too soon
You can’t know what you mean to me *

<flodnak plugs in an electric guitar and cranks up the amp>

Why, the same song I always put on (loudly) when I arrive home again from vacations:

*Flew in from Miami Beach B.O.A.C.
Didn’t get to bed last night
On the way my paper bag was on my knee
Man, I had a dreadful flight

I’m back in the U.S.S.R.
Don’t know how lucky you are, boys
Back in the U.S.S.R.!..*

This is mine… I figured I would be labeled a freak for putting it up…

What a surprise to see it already used.

Pretenders, My City was Gone

I went back to Ohio
But my family was gone
I stood on the back porch
There was nobody home
I was stunned and amazed
My childhood memories
Saw this world past
Like the wind thorugh the trees
Ay! Oh! Where did you go, Ohio?

Not sure why…I think I have an issue with change.

If you go here, you’ll find my “Back on the SDMB” to the tune of “Back in the USSR”, as well as Weirddave’s “The Boards Are Back in Town”, and other instant classics.

Damnit. I thought I was being so original with “Back in the USSR.” Especially that whole, “you don’t know how lucky you are” even though I do know.

Though I was listening to the radio last night and heard the Pretenders’ “Back on the Chain Gang” so that makes me think of the boards, too, now.

scotth good taste in duplicate.

‘Stuck inside of Mobile,
With the Mephis blues again…’

“Chain chain chaaaain
(chain chain chaaaain…)
Chain of fooools…”

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s one
Only darkness when she’s away
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone,
and she’s always gone to long,
every time she goes away.

It was a long month or so…

rrrgh, always preview…
Sorry 'bout that.
