Enough for today

Let me know what ya’ll think!

Ooooh, I like. I especially covet the King Tut and the Nefertiti ones.

Damn. Writing cover letters and looking for apartments is hard work. I should go grocery shopping, if I can motivate myself to get up off my lazy ass.

Me likes the blossom one…

I finished my mystery paper!

Now I can rest. Yay!

Very pretty, SCL! I like the blossom one, too, and the iris.

I really should be grading papers, but somehow I got sucked into looking up kitties for adoption. One of the reasons I’m so excited about moving into a new apartment is that it’ll allow me to get a cat. Both my roommates (Mr. Cheerio and Minister’s Lad) said they wouldn’t mind a cat, and most apartments seem to be cat-friendly. I suppose my biggest worry is that everyone seems to recommend getting two cats so they can both hang out with each other when no one is home. I dunno if I can afford two cats, and my life is not stable enough that I feel comfortable with being responsible for two felines at this point. Any thoughts, oh wise MMPers?

I’ve only ever had one cat at a time, and that worked fine for me. Sometimes the two cats don’t get along, so you have all the expense and none of the benefits.

I’m not a big fan of jewelry in general, but dang, SCL, your stuff is gorgeous. I’d actually wear several of those, and honestly, I can’t remember the last time I donned a necklace. You do lovely work. Make sure you give us a link to pics of your leftovers after the show - I see gifts for me and some family members…

And I’m home from the boat (ya think??) hot and sweaty and exhausted, but overall satisfied with the progress we made. Mostly, I cleaned - sorted the trash from the tools that weren’t put away and vacuumed up assorted crud and organized the tools and parts and miscellanea that was all over the place. I scrubbed the cabin on the starboard side, including the galley, the smaller settee, and the large shelved locker. Then I wiped down all the wood surfaces with a furniture oil - holy guacamole, what a difference it made! I hadn’t realized how dried out all the wood was. I figure it’ll take maybe 2 more coats to saturate it, but it already looks loads better. I’ll take pics after we put it all back together with cushions and all.

I helped **FCD ** install the overhead panels in the V-berth and helped him put in a drain in the deck chain locker. We went to West marine (no relation) and got safety flares and binoculars (on sale) when we took a Slurpee break. He took the anchor, chain, and old anchor line off the boat. I organized and boxed or bagged pretty much everything inside the boat, and we hauled it all to the van or the dumpster, as appropriate. We also flushed out the water tanks, and we had a mysterious accumulation of water in the bilge. But we were too tired to troubleshoot - maybe next weekend.

Next time we go back, I’ll clean the nav station, the big settee, and the head (that’s the bathroom to you landlubbers) while **FCD ** finishes the V-berth. Once he gets the rest of the ceiling up as well as the lights, I’ll scrub that whole area, and we can start putting things back together.

I’ve got a load of clothes in the washer, and I’m about to hit the shower. Right now, I can’t decide if I’m more tired or hungry. Too bad the dinner fairy didn’t visit. But next time I post, I should be fresh and clean…

I only seriously recommend two cats if the owner of a single cat can’t spend much time with it. If you or one of your roommates will be available for pettins & lovins & ear scritchins a single cat should be fine.

The very last of the beads are baked and the next-to-last batch is on the glaze rack. Sell or not, I have learned a lot from this experience and I know what types of beads I do best.

Whew - just when I thought I was out of energy… I did 2 loads of laundry - second is in the dryer right now. And I found some leftovers and some frozen veggies which resulted in a quick, not-too-bad supper. My sweetie rinsed the dishes, and I just finished loading the dishwasher and it’s running now. I’m thinking the cheesecake in the refrigerator is taking up way too much space - I’ll have to do something about that.

Right about now, I’d kill for a soak in a hot tub. And a back rub. And a foot rub. And a body that was about 30 years younger… But at least I’m clean and fed.

OooH fireworks! Either it’s early 4th of July, or we have Canadians in the complex. I’ve goof off all day, apart from watching the NHL free agent signing season.

Pretty jewelry, SCL. Yuo should do well at the sale.

Haze, you could always get the cat a dog to play with.

Gorgeous stuff, SCL! I especially like Enough for Today (which I assume has another name?). Love the colors in all of them, though, and you have a real eye for style! Definitely make sure we get to see your leftovers, cause I’m with FCM in seeing gifts in the future, too!

I’ve almost always had single kitties, too, Haze. If there’s sufficient human company, having another cat isn’t really necessary. Emily much prefers being a single cat; she’s not very fond of most other cats. (Except for the stray she befriended in New Orleans and let him eat from her dry food bowl for many months until he, alas, died.) She’s a very odd beastie. So I’d say one kitty should be ample to start with, especially with three people sharing the place. Especially until you figure out if you can afford two. Having an animal is always more expensive than you think it’s going to be!

Hi, curly people! I’m curly too! I loved Curly Girl. Sometimes I hate my hair, because it’s curly and it’s really fine and it gets in my face and tickles me, but I guess I wouldn’t trade it for straight hair.

That sounds like the perfect schedule to me. I function a lot better when I can go to work at 10. If I could, I’d stay up until about 2. I’m a night owl. I should get a job where I work at night, just so I can make it official.

Taters, I’m sure your new bathing suit is gorgeous. You look mahvelous!

FCM, a hot tub sounds great right now! I wish I had one. When I get one, you can come over and help me break it in.

I was supposed to be productive today, but I ended up taking the whole weekend off and just chillin’. It was nice. I made cold-brewed coffee in my coffee press, and it’s very nice. I like learning new tricks.

Gaiman update: I’m about halfway through American Gods. I got sidetracked with some library books, but I’ll finish it soon.

I’m in a limey kind of mood this week. I found a really nifty recipe for lemon curd (more of a custard, but it’s really easy and good), and I want to make it with limes and make little tiny lime cheesecake tarts. I’ll post the recipe if it works.

Happy Canada Day!!

Ooooo - you’re my new bestest friend - unless you live more than an hour away from me. Yes, my friendship is a fickle thing.

And on that note, I’m off to bed. But don’t cry - I’ll be back for tomorrow’s MMP - mebbe early, if the air conditioner guys show up early. Nighty-night!

Mmmm…lemon OR lime curd. Nummers.
Checked out the Office, the first season from the library -I plan on watching it tonight (it’s the UK version).

Other than that, I have no news.

Very beautiful jewelry, SCL! I especially liked Iris and Blossom.

Finally made it to the local farmer’s market today, and got some fresh veggies (yellow and a light green zucchini but not a zucchini squash) and some fresh peaches. I was surprised about the peaches, we’ll see how they taste, because it’s not really peach time just yet. Tonight for dinner we had grilled salmon fillets, salad and rice. The salmon was really delicious; I could only eat half of my portion, though, but that’s good because now I’ll have some for lunch tomorrow. After the farmer’s market, my daughter and I went to Target, so we were gone from the house for about 5 hours today. Hopefully that was some good exercise for me. I do admit, though, that my legs were aching by the time we got home.

FCM, I hope that Bernie has learned her lesson! I also hope that Scruffy stops growling at her. :frowning:

Have to get up extra early tomorrow to make sure that I’m at work early. laughs Yes, I’m trying to turn over a new leaf and actually get to work -before- I’m supposed to be there! Enjoy your Sunday evening all, and Happy Canada Day! to all our lovely Canadian friends.

The crappy sleep I didn’t get last night (what? it makes sense to me) is catching up with me.

Eyes.

Getting.

Heavy.
I’ll see y’all in the future MMP…

Sleep.

Soon.

Those are gorgeous! And really funky in a very good way! Good luck with the show - I’m sure they will sell

Pretty stuff, SCL. The blue and gold is my favourite.
Work was boring, there are fireworks, Mr. Lissar is MIA (I think he’s at Lazy Husband’s) and I’m trying to motivate myself to wash dishes. In my head I’m on holiday, and I can’t be expected to be useful on holiday.

I feel a littel nauseous for the first time in two days, so I think I’ll read and lie around until bedtime.

Purty stuff there Snakes and funnnneeeee joke too and not just cause I got me a master’s degree from UGA.

And now… ogbiglaroyt durknen ptso. Went to a low country boil tonight. Lots o’ beerverages.
