What made my jaw joint ache?

I have never experienced this before.

One minute my right jaw joint was fine; then, in the middle of dinner, it started hurting.

As I get older I get used to body parts suddenly hurting, so I chalked it up to some sort of strain or whatever, even though nothing had happened.

It hurt to move my jaw, but it especially hurt to bite down. My bite alignment kinda got messed up, and it became really difficult to close my mouth.

The next day, I felt a bit yucky. My right tonsil hurt, and the glands on the right side of my neck were swollen. A bit of indigestion. No fever.

The third day…miraculously gone. The pain didn’t fade out…it just all left.

The fourth day…back to the sore throat/swollen glands, and the jaw joint ached, but not nearly like it did. By the fifth day, everything was fine, although I’ve had heartburn a lot.

Aside from the touch of malaise and swollen glands, I felt fine, and didn’t need to alter my day.

Any ideas?

The beginning of Bells Palsey… NO, NO, Just kidding.

I’ve had this same thing happen to me a couple of times over the year…One time it turned out to be an infected cavity that got worse then better then worse then better. Eventually, I got a root canal and was fine.

The other time it was definitely a sprain of sorts as I was eating a particularly hard bagel and I wacked something out of allignment…
