Yup, I hadn’t thought about it, either, but I get three quarterly alumni magazines:
My high school
My university
My business school (part of the same university)
The high school one isn’t terribly thick, though it’s nicely put-together. The university and business school ones are fairly substantial, and sometimes interesting.
I’ve had a subscription to Prospect since soon after it launched in 1995. As ever, I’ve a backlog of two or three issues to catch up on (makes it interesting to compare a commentary on some fast-changing political issue with how it’s actually turning out).
And I get alumni magazines three times a year or so. Quite interesting, but so is how remote it all feels these decades later.
The Economist since 2007. It’s been off and on, because the price tag is a bit steep, but I’ve not found anything better as an even-handed source of news from intelligent people.
I subscribed to Playboy from the early 1990s until a couple of years before its stopped printing. I probably would have stuck with the magazine until the bitter end, just for the nostalgia factor, but their complete lack of interest in doing anything to help me recover some issues that didn’t make their way to me really kinda ticked me off and I sent them packing as a result.
I think it’s finally canceled. I had a subscription dating back to the late 1980’s.
Recently. I had trouble finding the model that Test reviews rated highly. For example a Washer. The qualiry and features can vary. A Samsung model X might not test as well as Model Z.
Playboy it really had interesting articles and the photos were nice too. I had a subscription since college. I finally quit renewing i. The late 1990’s. 80 year old Hef and his trio of twenty-something girlfriends was too much. Especially when they were featured in the magazine and Playboy channel had The Girls Next Door. By then the freelance writing in the magazine had significantly declined.
National Geographic- I got it for about 6 years. Cable tv documentaries often featured the same or similiar locations.
It just kept showing up until I was 17 or 18? I was a Scout for many years. Earned my Life badge. I quit attending meeting when I was 16.
Apparently no one notified the National organization. The magazine was primarily aimed at 11 to 15 year olds. There was always news and photos from the National and World Jamborees.
