What makes a breezeway breezy?

I know this probably sounds like a why park on the driveway and drive on the parkway question, but so what…ed zotti is a friend of mine.

I have two storage buildings attached by a breezeway. The wind *always * blows through there at a good clip. Even when there is no distinct breeze anywhere else there is always a good stiff wind through that thing. I think I have some vague idea as to why it is so breezy in the breezeway but I thought the teeming thousands would probably give me a better answer.

Note* Including the subject, I managed to use the word breeze or derivation there of, seven times during this post.

Your buildings are probably arranged to get a good venturi effect. The breeze that is barely perceptable on open ground has get around the space the buildings take up so it has to move a little faster in the breezeway and less noticably around the outside of the building. It may appear to be counterintuitive but restricting the area a fluid flows through causes it to flow faster near the restriction.
