I also have been rethinking my stance on the death penalty recently, and like you Aries I think I now oppose it (although some people who receive it will not have any tears shed by me for them).
Still, I’d like to see this woman get a life sentence, immediately after they do to her everything she did to that poor girl. The bleach, the burning, the whole nine yards.
Maybe that makes me an evil asshole. I don’t care. You abuse a child, you deserve the harshest punishment we can come up with.
I’m from Pittsburgh originally, and keep up on the local news there.
This woman is a real piece of work. When her hearing was over she asked the judge if she could go home now. Apparantly, she hadn’t been paying attention to the proceedings.
He told her “Ma’am, the bail has been set at a million dollars, and release won’t be granted until you pass a psychological evaluation.”
Sheesh. Hope she keeps a low profile at jail. I’ve heard what woman inmates do to child abusers.
Its absolutley astonishing what some people are capable of isn’t it? I saw David Pelzer on British TV the other day (victim of extreme child abuse and author of 'A Child Called It and other books) and was heartened at how he had recovered from his ordeal but for every success like him there has to be a hundred abused children that go on hurting for the rest of their lives. I hope that poor girl isn’t destroyed by this.
