What Makes You Smile?

Taking my grandkids someplace fun. The Fair, a day at a lake swimming, to Baskin & Robbins for an ice cream cone.

Winning a few bucks in the lottery.

Watching the first 3 episodes of “Police Squad” last night. In fact, my cheeks hurt by the end of the tape.

Looking at all 4 cats laying on the living room floor, all stretched out, catching the warmth of the morning sun as it streams through the window.

and from the naughty side of me:

Letting loose with a good SBD fart and no one suspects it’s me.

A sunny Sunday morning, a good cup of coffee, the Sunday paper, and a nice buzz from the bit of bud my brother gave me a few days earlier.

Stranger

Hey, that worked!
But you can’t tell by looking. :frowning:

This movie, which features my best friend in the starring role (such as it is). Yeah, it sucks, but his overacting and general aura of goofiness just remind me why I love the guy.

Also, “The Hustle”, by KC and the Sunshine Band. Crappy song, but something about that cutesy electronic melody makes me just HAVE to bob up and down, and I can’t resist smiling as I do so.

My cousin Zachary asking me when I’m going to come home from school again.

Writing something really good, and knowing that it’s good.

Overhearing my friend tell her SO, “I love you,” on the phone.

Knowing people think and care about me.

Goldfish crackers. They’re so cute.

Nice fresh laundry.

My friends Kasey and Anthony, who are two of the dearest, kindest human beings I know.

The smile of a small child. That’s the one thing that does it every time. Oh, I guess if I find a $100 bill on a deserted street, that might bring a smile to my face too.

Watching my dachshund strut. It’s one of the reasons we own dachshunds. No matter my mood, I have a full-on belly laugh when the two of them get frisky and start chasing one another around the apartment.

My little kid and a really good line for long skis down Gunbarrel or under Powderbowl.

I’ve had large doses of both this week!

Playing DDR.

When my guy friend tickles me.

Pink Floyd

Seeing guys in precarious bondage situations.

When my husband says something extremely inappropriate in public - I can’t help but laugh.

When my boy cat has been beating up on my girl cat all day, and she finally whomps him one in retaliation.

Walking past the day care in the supermarket, and seeing Sponge Bob on the television, and figuring out which episode it is in under 2 seconds.

An Amazon box at my door with books.

Talking to my parents’ neighbors’ kids on the phone since we’re now long distance.

Watching my girl cat jump up in my husband’s recliner when he gets up to go to the bathroom, and then refuse to move.

Getting an IM from my best guy friend out of the blue at work.

E.

Flipping TV channels and finding “Rooster Cogburn” showing.

When my SO decided I really need to have the package of chocolates, shaped like frogs, that he just found in the store.

“Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”

Listening to my godson (2 yrs old) tell me about his new ball, over the phone.

Waking up in the morning, snuggled up against my SO.

When my cat jumps up on the bed, and pretending to stretch, rolls over on his back so I can scratch is tummy for him.

Cute babies!

This smiley face that my sister drew. It’s hilarious.

I’m not smiling. It’s gas.

My teenage daughter mixes phrases and cliches, sort of reminiscent of Gracie Allen. “It’s not rocket surgery!” or “You’re not the sharpest crayon in the box, are you?” or “For crying out Pete!” Just makes me grin.

An icy cold Coke right out of the can.

A well-turned out meal made by my own two hands.

The first day of Renaissance Faire season.

Really little kids walking like drunks.

Eddie Izzard.
