These days, it seems like so many bad things are happening, that it’s awfully easy to be overwhelmed with sad news and reports of tragedies. Therefore, let’s share what makes us feel better and more hopeful. Anything that makes you think less harshly of the world and your fellow (wo)man.
Two of mine:
Troma movies and MST3K. Just knowing that there are people who enjoy doing such silly and amusing things, and do them because they want to, makes me feel somehow optimistic. I’ve not seen many Troma movies, and I may not ever, but just the general tone and idea of them is all I need.
My gf’s smile. Ok, so it’s subjective, but it makes me happy :).
3) The Straight Dope. Gives me hope for the next generation. (I feel old just typing that.)
My little boy. He’s so beautiful and smart and wonderful, and gets so much pleasure out of playing and using his imagination. Just looking at him makes me smile, and a hug makes my day.
Baseball
Finishing the yard work
Walking the dogs
NYPD Blue and West Wing
A good movie - anybody see K-19 today? I will probably go tomorrow.
Good Friends
Working Out
I almost always feel better after going to church, reading the bible or praying, although this is very personal and probably not helpful to those not already doing it.
Oh, and Sam Hell, how can one not feel better after watching Cannibal! The Musical? I know it wasn’t originally made for Troma, but it fits the genre to a tee. I can’t help but smile whenever I just think about, "“Let’s build a snowman”. Watching the DVD with the commentary on makes it even more amusing, and oddly relaxing.
I forgot to include, playing with silly toys. I could easily get lost in a sea of giddy delight spending an entire afternoon at the Archie McPhee store in Seattle.
They’re website, and the things I have bought from them, either on line, or at their store are decent substitutes when I am home.
Exercise–natural endorphins, never fails if you can get up the energy to just do it.
Good movie that I can get sucked into and, maybe cry about–except then sleep is hard, cause I get a sinus headache.
Cook a fancy dinner, plant some flowers. Perennials are cool, they always come back to greet you next year. Sometimes I forget what I plant, so its always a cool surprise to see them poke up and say hi.
