What Makes You Weird?

The local radio station I listen to in the mornings was doing a segment on phobias today. As I was listening to the people who don’t like heights, public bathrooms and clowns, I got to thinking about about my own strange quirks.

I can’t stand to sit down in a bathtub, any bathtub, even a freshly scrubbed one. Just thinking about it gives me the willies. It literally makes my skin crawl and I have no idea why. I love to take showers, sometimes I take two or three a day. You can’t make me take a sit down bath though, I refuse. I also won’t eat or drink out of plastic cups or bowls. I only use the glass ones, and if there aren’t any clean I will wash one instead of using a clean plastic one. I think that has something to do with the way plastic absorbs things, even if I can’t see it, it creeps me out. I have specific forks that I use too, I will dig through the drawer until I find one.

The more I think about it, the more I think that I am a freak. What makes you freaky?

My quirk is also bathtub/shower related. It makes my skin crawl to have my bare feet in a shower, no matter how clean. So how do I shower? By sort of standing on the sides of my feet and not letting my toes touch the bottom. I think it started when I was a teenager growing up with an older brother who never bothered to clean the tub when it was his turn to do so. Soap scum and gross stuff would build up and I’d have to stand on a wash cloth just to get into the shower. shudders
