This morning we woke to see some circles on our patio, and have no idea what might have caused them. I actually took pictures - I’ll see if I can figure out how to host and attach them.
We live west of Chicago. Yesterday was around 70F, and at 6 am this morning it was in the 50s. It had apparently been VERY HUMID overnight, because everything was coated with heavy moisture - rather than a solid sheet/layer or wetness, the patio/driveway/sidewalks appeared to be covered with large droplets with smaller spaces between the droplets than the diameter of the droplets.
We have a bluestone patio in back of our house. Just off the patio, we have a bird feeder. We get standard Chicago birds - cardinals, house sparrows, house finches, juncos, mourning doves. Plenty of other common birds around. We’ve seen mice and chipmunks around the feeder, and plenty of rabbits, squirrels, fox. We have a dog. (Just trying to identify all possible relevant factors.)
On the patio right near the bird feeder, there were a series of circles approximately 2’ in diameter. They were conjoined as though you were writing circles without lifting your pen from the paper. The appearance was as though someone had used their finger to draw the circles in the condensation. (No, neither, my wife nor I did that!) A couple of them went north to south, then a couple were at almost right angles east to west. There were no visible human or animal tracks on either side of the line.
The sorta looked slimy, but my wife touched it and said it did not feel viscous.
So, I’m figuring it HAS to be cupachabra, right?
