Camden Yards is probably my favorite, but there’s definitely bias there, as I went to college in B’more and have been there far more times than any of the others. Safeco and Wrigley were both great. The others were all kind of crappy in one way or another; Fenway is probably fourth, but even as a Sox fan, there’s so much I hate about going to games there.
I clearly need to make a trip to NYC while I’m still relatively close and hit the two new stadiums there, to make my list a little more respectable.

Of the parks I’ve been to (see post #37), the nicest ones are AT&T Park (SF Giants) first, followed by PNC Park (Pirates). I haven’t been to Miller Park (Brewers) yet and I hear that is nice. But nothing beats AT&T.
The most classic one is Fenway.

Comments:
I love Nats Park. Really great place to watch a ballgame.
I thought the old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore was great. I’m sure Camden Yards is better in a lot of ways, but the couple times I’ve been there (and this was in the late '90s before the O’s descended into awfulness), the crowd just didn’t seem to be into it the way the Memorial Stadium fans used to be. I’d often go there [ETA: Memorial Stadium, that is] by myself, and get into great, knowledgeable baseball conversations with total strangers sitting nearby; maybe that happens nowadays at Camden Yards, but I was just there at the wrong time, or on the wrong days.
I haven’t been to Fenway since the 1980s, but it was a great place to watch a ballgame then. I’ve been in a few different vantage points in the ballpark, and they’ve all been good. Yes, I know, there are some obstructed-view seats; do your homework before buying.
I’m glad to read this. I can’t stand Miller Park (the Millerdome, since the roof is closed far more often than necessary). It’s not that it’s a bad stadum per se, just that it’s a complete embarrassment compared to most of the other stadiums built in the recent boom. Its exteriro is beyond ugly once you’re more than 50’ away. Watching a game is nothing special (ooh, seats are wider than at County Stadium, just like at every other new stadium), and it so often seems to take a backseat to the gimmic of the minute. I recently went to games in Minnesota and Colorado, and of course there were ads and contests, but they didn’t seem to be so constant and overbearing there.
The absolute worst part, though, is that no matter where you’re sitting, you feel like you’re inside, even with the roof open. When it’s 70° and sunny, you shouldn’t feel like you’re in a warehouse watching the game, but that’s the Millerdome experience. It was so great to get truly outdoor baseball at Target and Coors Fields.
I won’t bother getting into the funding of the stadium or the argument of whether it should have been built downtown or where County Stadium was located.
Last thing - I watched Major League a couple weeks ago, and the baseball scenes for that were filmed at County Stadium. Yes, the stadium was old and needed replacing or major renovations. But once you were out of the concourse and in the seats, it was just a great place to watch a game. I wish they’d renovated instead of replaced it.
Dude, how old are you?!
Seriously, that’s quite the collection. Not to hijack this thread, but do you collect anything from the stadiums? I collect a souvenir baseball and the team’s media guide. I have the baseballs in a nice display case, and the media guides on a book shelf. I’ve collected SF Giants media guides for every year since 1996.
Interesting comment.
I visited the Rogers Centre once, earlier this season. Now that you mention that and now that I reflect back, with the roof open it felt like I was indoors.
The Mets played their last game at Shea Stadium in 2008, and the place has been demolished. They now play at Citi Field, next to where Shea used to be.
Still a bit shy of the half-century mark.
In 1989, a friend and I decided to take a road trip from Chicago to Boston because we both wanted to see Fenway. While planning, we figured we might as well make a few other stops along the way, and ended up with Fenway, Memorial Stadium, Veterans Stadium, and Tiger Stadium under our belts.
We had so much fun we decided to do it again the next year, and we haven’t missed a year since. Over the years we’ve been to 49 Major League and 132 Minor League parks.
I do have a cap from every Major League park I’ve visited. Used to have them on a wall in my old apartment, but that went away when I got married. One of these days I plan to photograph myself wearing each one and post them all somewhere…

:smack: forgot Camden Yards, which is a great place to see a game.
My parents took me to see the Pirates at Three Rivers once, when I was a kid. I’ve also been IN the Metrodome in Minneapolis, but not for a game.

Pretty much all the parks outside of Philadelphia (with the exception of a few games in Baltimore) were to see the Phillies play. For the past seven or eight years, I’ve tried to attend one Phillies road series per season. Wasn’t able to make it to any this season, but could be doing Comerica Park next summer.
